Texas GOP Senator: Perjury Now a ‘Technicality’

Fine. Can We Rescind the Clinton Impeachment Now?

Corrupted beyond redemption: On Meet the Press yesterday, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison floated one of the GOP’s talking points intended to mitigate indictments that may be forthcoming against White House officials:

This is from a woman who 1) is a client of Karl Rove’s and 2) voted for the impeachment of President Clinton on the “technicality” that he perjured himself about a blow job.

[Hutchison] compared the leak investigation with the case of Martha Stewart and her stock sale, “where they couldn’t find a crime and they indict on something that she said about something that wasn’t a crime.”

Funny, we don’t remember any outrage over Martha’s prison sentence from Republicans like Sen. Hutchison.

Ms. Hutchison said she hoped “that if there is going to be an indictment that says something happened, that it is an indictment on a crime and not some perjury technicality where they couldn’t indict on the crime and so they go to something just to show that their two years of investigation was not a waste of time and taxpayer dollars.”

Of all the gall! This is from a woman who 1) is a client of Karl Rove’s and 2) voted for the impeachment of President Clinton on the “technicality” that he perjured himself about a blow job.
