Clinton-Hater Toensing Laughs - Literally - at Idea of Investigating Bush’s Allegedly Illegal Spying on U.S. Citizens

New lows in hackery: During the 1990’s, Victoria Toensing and her husband, Joe diGenova, made over 300 appearances on cable television in the service of the Republican agenda - often pimping for their friend Ken Starr and his $35 million investigation into President Clinton’s sex life.

In those days, to hear Toensing and diGenova tell it, there was no infraction on the part of the Clintons that was too small to warrant a thorough proctological examination.

So I was flabbergasted to hear Toensing this morning on C-Span’s Washington Journal laughing - literally - at the idea that a special prosecutor should be assigned to investigate whether President Bush broke the law when he ordered the National Security Agency (NSA) to spy on American citizens.

Toensing was debating James Bamford, an investigative reporter who wrote a book about the NSA titled, “The Puzzle Palace.” At the center of their debate is the 1978 law the president apparently broke - the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) - which clearly states that the government must get special permission to spy on U.S. citizens from a FISA court.

BAMFORD: This is a president who has [spied on U.S. citizens] constantly since 2001, bypassing [the FISA] law. This isn’t a one-time deal. And, again, he has a lot of options for going to the court and doing this. He didn’t go to the court and there is a legal provision in that statute that says “if you don’t go to the court, it’s five years in jail and a ten thousand dollar fine.” So the solution here is to get a special prosecutor to take a look at whether the law…
TOENSING: (Off camera) Ha!
BAMFORD: …Was violated. And I don’t know what’s funny about that. You know, we had the Republicans go to impeachment over a minor sexual discretion [sic] by a president. And here’s a president violating a law that says [there's jailtime and a fine] if you manage to violate it.

All Toensing could say in response was to sputter about how members of Congress had been briefed on the domestic spying so they should be investigated too.

Typically childish Repub/neo-con schoolyard reaction. “I may have broken the law but THEY KNEW about it! What’s that? But I was the one who told them and swore them to secrecy? So what if I told them? THEY knew about it so that makes THEM guilty too!”
Never underestimate the smallness of the conservative mind, or the unwillingness to admit fault or accept blame for what they do with it.

One might think one of their motives is to entangle the opposition into all their crimes, so they can point to us as being complicit, therefore no better than they…

We need to find out who they were spying on. Enemies list?

“Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution.”
George W. Bush From the Whitehouse.gov website.
This should be shoved in the face of Toensing and all the other koolaid drinkers

Every time I see Victoria and Joey plying their wares of bias on some program or other, I can only think they must not have much business at their law firm. Are they paid by the networks?

I think they must be on some sort of RNC payroll. They certainly get the RNC talking points.

This is more dangerous than childish. They are trying to impose their will. She doesn’t have a leg to stand on but she’s still smarting away. What a clown.

All I want for Christmas is FOR THESE LYING SACKS OF S**T TO BE IMPEACHED, DRAGGED FROM THE WHITE HOUSE IN CHAINS, STRIPPED OF THEIR CLOTHES, DRUGGED, FLOWN TO A SECRET PRISON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD AND SUBJECTED TO EVERYTHING THEY HAVE FORCED ON HELPLESS PEOPLE WHO ARE INCAPABLE OF DOING THE LEVEL OF DAMAGE TO MY COUNTRY THAT THEY HAVE DONE EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE THEY STOLE THE 2000 ELECTION.

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.

Republicans ALWAYS LAUGH AT Democrats or other opponents; it’s called “tactics”.
THUS, the others must LAUGH AT THEM. “Now, Victoria, hahahahahahah, surely you jest! Hahahahaha! Because, *chortle*, Bush broke the, *chuckle*, LAW! Your arguments are worse than CHILDISH! *Guffaw*!!

I saw this partisan hack Toensing on C-Span. Her arguement seemed to be that Bush did nothing outside his powers as Commander-in-chief during war-time, and anyway it’s Congress’ fault for not exercising better oversight.(?)

Hasn’t it become clear that most of these nuts are on the Republican payroll? How can anyone take them seriously when we are daily hearing of new payola recipients?

Victoria can laugh all she wants. GWB informing congress is legally incidental. It doen’t matter how many people you may have informed of your intentions to break thelaw. It certainly provides no relief from criminal liability. I thought this B***h was supposed to be an attorney.

I watched this partisan hack night after night on Geraldo with the other bimbos, Lynn Cheney and two other female hacks going after Clinton. Then the pompous ass de genova would offer his take on the impeachment of the president and of course that paragon of virtue Geraldo would kiss their collective asses and lo and behold Clinton beat them all.Why is it that all these republican bitches are heavily made up? Is it to cover up their two faces.

The thing that gets me is that first they wave off any suggestion that GW has done any thing wrong in the first place, then they follow that up with the “well, they do/did it too.” As if they are trying to justify the action they had just claimed was not an issue. What color is the sky in “Opposite World” anyway? Hypocritical pudendum heads. Sheesh

Hope their laughing when Bushbaby and gang are all indicted.

Wonder how Joe the lawyer would like his phone tapped?

But really, haven’t these two had their 15 minutes of fame already?
take care

Would somebody just give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach the son of a bitch?!

wow, that frame grab above of vicky is weird: Take a card or paper hold it horizontally to the screen and obscure the top half of her face so you can just see the smile. Nice, big smile. Now take the card and reverse it so that only the upper half of her face is visible. See? She ain’t smilin’…she’s pissed/desperate. More a wince.

Also perform this trick by obscuring the left half then right half of her face, vertically. This is supposedly a test for mental stability. This gal looks like two different people on either side. On her RHS she looks like the feakin’ Joker.

How can people still support thier plocies? spying on american s private rights are they so sneaky they think every one else is?

Bush’s cavalier dismissal of established law is bad enough but why is he so desperate to have the story squashed when he has already freely admitted his crimes? Just who was he spying on that even a rubber stamp court couldn’t know about it?

what do you expect fro DiGenova and Toensing. They get paid (in the queens english it would be termed bribed and the act bribery) for pimping. Their pimp Big Dick-5 Deferments ensures that they are taken care of regularly, by providing protection and johns (such as C-Span, etc.). Everyone knows that DoGenova and Toensing like and love prostitution. They have become wealthy as a result of this prostitution. They go to their church on sunday, make a confession to their parish priest and are back in their business in the afternoon.

For Victoria Toesing: Go to Fort Bend County, Texas at the courthouse and check the sexual lawsuit that has been filed against George W Bush. This is not only worse than anything that Bill Clinton ever done but it is also racial. I am white but we all know that Bush hates the black people and I suspect that Toesing is a racist also.

I ran ( almost literally) into her at returning from a flight at Detroit Metro Airport.
She was berating her limo driver in such a contemptous, nasty way that everyone within earshot ( A good 25 -30 yard radius) heard this shrill banshee and were all embarassed, just on gp - that human beings act like that. I mean she was contorted. And hey we’re Detroiters, a hardy bunch and certainly not squeamish, lol. She was nasty.
Surprised? I didn’t think so.

Just like typical whining liberals — you are as pathetic and desperate as the conservatives who impeached Clinton in 96.

The fact is that warrantless searches were done in Clinton’s presidency, resulting in the arrest of Aldrich Ames. No one called for Clinton’s impeachment then (they did for the blowjobs, of course).

Pathetic. It’s ok when Clinton did it, but not when Bush does it. Go dance in the streets for dead Americans, and wring your hands over the thought that someone, somewhere, might think you’re racist.

Whoops:

Bill Clinton Signed Executive Order that allowed Attorney General to do searches without court approval

Clinton, February 9, 1995: “The Attorney General is authorized to approve physical searches, without a court order”

WASH POST, July 15, 1994, “Administration Backing No-Warrant Spy Searches”: Extend not only to searches of the homes of U.S. citizens but also — in the delicate words of a Justice Department official — to “places where you wouldn’t find or would be unlikely to find information involving a U.S. citizen… would allow the government to use classified electronic surveillance techniques, such as infrared sensors to observe people inside their homes, without a court order.”

Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick, the Clinton administration believes the president “has inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches for foreign intelligence purposes.”

Secret searches and wiretaps of Aldrich Ames’s office and home in June and October 1993, both without a federal warrant.

Government officials decided in the Ames case that no warrant was required because the searches were conducted for “foreign intelligence purposes,” a goal of such vital national security interest that they said it justified extraordinary police powers.

Government lawyers have used this principle to justify other secret searches by U.S. authorities.

“The number of such secret searches conducted each year is classified…”

Jimmy Carter Signed Executive Order on May 23, 1979: “Attorney General is authorized to approve electronic surveillance to acquire foreign intelligence information without a court order.”

“Would somebody just give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach the son of a bitch?!”

The press has already given him more than I can count.
