On this day in 1831, Charles Darwin set out on his only trip away from England, aboard the HMS Beagle and eventually to the Galapagos Islands off South America. Little did he realize he could have just stayed home and read the Bible and known everything anyone would ever need to about how life works. Silly Darwin. We’re so much smarter than that now.
