Moral compass gone astray: What will finally drive a stake through the Republicans’ false claim that they are the party of high morals? I doubt it will be the latest soap opera to play out within their ranks. Buzzflash has named Rep. Connie Mack, Republican of Florida, as it’s Hypocrite of the Week:
[Rep. Mack] has been seen cooing and cuddling with Republican Congresswoman Bono in the back of the House of Representatives. Mack’s estranged wife also dropped the bombshell that Connie was lying when he claimed, during his Congressional run, that he had moved his “beloved” family, which he is now in the process of abandoning, into the Congressional District he represents. As one Florida news report noted about Mack, “During his campaign, he stressed family values and told questioners he and his family were committed to Southwest Florida.”
Rep. Mack, whose real name is Cornelius H McGillicuddy, is the son of former Sen. Connie Mack, and the grandson of a famous baseball player who was also named Connie Mack.
Rep. Mary Bono represents Palm Springs, California. She remarried after the death of her husband, Sonny Bono of Sonny and Cher fame, but is said to be seeking a divorce.

remember during the impeachment when Mary Bono, close to tears, made the comment, “What are we going to tell the children.
My thoughts at the time was that if you spiteful people had minded your own business and let personal lives alone, and between the President and his wife, you wouldn’t have had to tell them anything. What they needed to be worried about *telling the children* was their own unethical methods of trying to unseat a popular and very successful president.
They say, well Clinton lied under oath.
He shouldn’t have been asked that question to begin with, it was an invasion of his privacy.. Clinton lied to save his family from hurt, and to not embarrass the country he loved. During the impeachment, and even at present, you see the same people that persecuted Clinton commit far worse than he ever thought about. Then they say, but he was president. Pardon me, but since when did morals and family values that the Republicans so love to brag about apply to only those with the highest stature. I would have thought that the same rules should apply to all.
Truth is, the Republicans of today have rules for everyone but themselves. It’s wrong if others do it, but it’s fine if it’s one of their own.
“What are we going to tell the children?” How are we going to explain that the people in control of our country lie to us on a regular basis. They invade our privacy, do away with our rights, take needed funds away from our own people to fight a war that most of the country didn’t want to begin with, and was based on lies. .
They tell us to get by on our own without help from the Government. Well, the people are the Government, it’s the people’s money they so freely spend on their witch hunt projects like the Clinton Impeachment. (Last I heard, it was over forty million.) Let’s not forget that 8.8 billion that was lost in Iraq and can’t be found. When I was responsible for money, if something had happened to it, I would have had to pay it back. Start digging George, Dick, and Rummy. That’s the Government’s money you lost, you owe the people.
Let’s see if we can sum this up: An extra-martial consensual affair is a no, no–if it’s the President, but not for anyone that is a Republican in office. Sex is a bad thing for everyone else but themselves, and a sin. However, lying, cheating, spending the people’s money. Taking from the poor and giving to the rich, these are the good guys.
The Congress is not exercising oversight to the Executive office, they are not doing the people’s business, but acting more as a conduit for the agenda of this administration. Yet, they gladly take the people’s money in wages, and live life to the hilt
The Republicans are in control in all three branches of the government. The Republicans in Congress are NOT doing their jobs. They are not being fair to the people. They need to be fired.
As far as this affair between these two, ah well, most Democrats I know would have respected their privacy and said nothing about the affair. Then the Republican bullies use it again them and accuse them of being weak, and having NO PLAN. If ever, anyone had no PLAN, it IS the Republicans and the Iraq War, the Republicans and National Disasters. How dare they constantly harp about the Democrats having no plan when everything they’ve done has been a miserable failure. .
Perhaps Ms. Bono (whatever) is afraid she won’t be reelected, and this way she can remain at least a part of the congress. That’s ethics and morals folks, the Republican way.
