Maybe it was casual Friday but that was just dumb, and we can expect to see that photo turn up in his opponents’ advertising if — and heaven forfend — Joe follows through on his threat to run for president again.

I just read Molly Ivins piece (Just Say No to Hillary Sun.,22 Jan 2005) and I must say she articulated what I have been thinking the last few years. I propose the following message to the Dems in Congress:
Hey, beltway Democrats…The country is starved for someone to emphasize the mess that the Republicans have made of our country and to give us a CLEAR plan as to how we are going to remedy the situation.
No more straddling the fence; no more Republican lite; no more protecting your political butts at all costs. We need an honest person of substance who is not afraid to say what has to be said in definite terms that all of us can understand. We need you to prepare to lash out at the coming swift-boating of Democratic candidates. We need you to be strong and protective of each other at all times.
In other words, we don’t need a Hillary Clinton, Biden, Obama or any other person who is oh-so-very-careful to say just the right thing so that he/she doesn’t offend anyone. Such a candidate is anathema to everything Democrats should stand for. We need a fighter ala Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer,
