Politics, Scandals
Breshnevian: In the Fox News broadcast yesterday of lead anchor Brit Hume’s interview with Vice President Cheney about his hunting accident, Hume revealed that Cheney said he had “one beer” a few hours before he shot Harry Whittington.
But as Media Matters discovered, Fox did not include the actual video of Cheney making the admission in the broadcast.
What a big wet kiss to the vice president from this “news” channel. That sound bite would have been everywhere had they left it in — but now it has been scrubbed, Soviet-style.
Maybe Keith Olbermann can do a “Cheney Interview Puppet Theatre” re-enactment based on this transcript from the White House:
HUME: Was anybody drinking in this party?
CHENEY: No. You don’t hunt with people who drink. That’s not a good idea. We had –
HUME: So he wasn’t, and you weren’t?
CHENEY: Correct. We’d taken a break at lunch — go down under an old — ancient oak tree there on the place, and have a barbecue. I had a beer at lunch. After lunch, we take a break, go back to ranch headquarters. Then we took about an hour-long tour of ranch, with a ranch hand driving the vehicle, looking at game. We didn’t go back into the field to hunt quail until about, oh, sometime after 3 p.m.
The five of us who were in that party were together all afternoon. Nobody was drinking, nobody was under the influence.

I think the MSM was drinking too. Either that or,
CHENEY AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE LIARS!!!
Cheney claimed responsibility and said it was his fault? That’s what all the MSM is saying. Funny how when I read the FAUX Gnus transcripts I could not find anywhere in the transcripts where Cheney claimed responsibility or said it was his fault.
However, I did find the complete opposite. Cheney claims, “…it was not Harry’s fault. You can’t blame anybody esle”!
Did you get that? If you can’t blame anybody else, then you can’t blame Cheney either.
Read it for yourself from the FAUX Gnus transcripts of Dead I A Dick Cheney and Britney Hu,me?:
Q Right, and so you know all the procedures and how to maintain the proper line and distance between you and other hunters, and all that. So how, in your judgment, did this happen? Who — what caused this? What was the responsibility here?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: Well, ultimately, I’m the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry. And you can talk about all of the other conditions that existed at the time, but that’s the bottom line. And there’s no — it was not Harry’s fault. You can’t blame anybody else. I’m the guy who pulled the trigger and shot my friend.
And I say that is something I’ll never forget.
Cheney does admit to having pulled the trigger. But that is not the same as claiming responsiblity. And Hu,me? did not ask Cheney if he was responsible, he asked, “What was the responsibility here?”
What I can’t understand is how they think they can try to pull this crap on the public. Apparently they think we are all as stupid as they are.
Wrong, again!
They are soooooooooo BUSTED!!!!
Come on Mr. Cheney, you can do it. You can take responsibility. Go on, say it. Say, “I take complete responsibility for shooting my friend Harry in the face.”
We’ll even let you slide on the part where you admit to breaking the cardinal rule of hunting, which is what got you into this mess in the first place.
Lets not forget that Cheney is also taking medications for his heart. Medications that typcially say not to drink or operater machinery.
But my favorite is that they turned the police away until sunday so that cheney could sober up. Its amazing that when you test someone for alcohol the next day you don’t find any
Kevin I like your message!!! Let me know how I can help destroy these jerks! I’m in San Diego and there are few yahoos out here!
God, this is so amazing, the man shots another man, refuses to talk to the deputy, waits for 18 hours to inform the public and people think it is OK?
The first think I thought when I heard about this was: was he drunk? How can you shoot so low that you hit a man on hit butt who is 30 yards away, that just dosn’t make sence.
Then, we hear all the BS about white washing the insident, I just don’t understand how lame our main stream media is these days.
I would really recomend the book “No Questions Asked by Lisa FInnegan”

I would really recomend her blog, even though she does not write all the time, but her articles are very interesting to read and understand the sad state of our media these days.

I’ll bet the Dickster was so shit-faced on Saturday he couldn’t walk. He probably dropped the gun and it went off in his pal’s face. Cheney has two prior drunk driving convictions, you know.
How comforting to know that that this country is being run by two drunks with ego problems……
Another odd aspect…the “designated witness”, ranch owner Armstrong didn’t even witness the event. She said she thought Cheney had a heart problem because she saw the secret service personnel running over to the area. Armstrong was viewing all this from a truck she claimed.
Another pass the media has given him- Originally Cheney claimed not to be able to see Whittington who was “in tall grass”, but later says that he saw Whittington fall down. Which one is it?
I am a proud gun owner, and this sorta thing gives us a very very bad name. This was not just a little hunting accident One does not shoot a man less than 100 feet away, and watch him fall down when he is sober, period.
I was also surprised by the amount of shot that hit Whittington, as well as astonished by the 6 to 200 figure… thats quite a wide range, surely you’d know more than that at a mere glance. It must be a polite way of saying The Whole Damned Lot. There is no bloody way that 3/4ths of the shot would end up in an area so small at 30 yards. Nor would it have penetrated much, certainly not enough to lodge in the heart. At point blank range it would likely have killed him, and the affected areas would be like ground beef. The range was likely about 20-30 FEET, though it depends upon the brand of shell, barrel length, and how it was choked.
Of course, there is no way that a non-negligent (criminally so that is) gun owner could swing and shoot at a person 20 feet away. They would need to be drunk or absolutely clueless about firearm safety.
Either way Cheney should be behind bars and barred from ever hunting again.
