Members of the Baptist Church led by Rev. Fred Phelps of Kansas say they will continue protesting at the funerals of service members killed in Iraq despite new state laws intended to preventing them from disrupting the grieving families:
“We obey the law,” said Shirley Phelps-Roper, a lawyer and member of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, a fundamentalist congregation headed by her father, the Rev. Fred Phelps.
Church members have outraged mourners across the nation by showing up at soldiers’ funerals with signs that read “God Hates Fags” or “God Made IEDs,” a reference to roadside bombs.
Church members contend that soldiers are being killed for defending a nation in which gays and lesbians are accepted.

Another example of the”Compassionate/Conservative Reactionary Christianity of the CHURCH OF THE NEW FASCIST STATE” and/or one of its subsidiaries, which should please John Bolton, Carl Rove, Tom Delay, Bill Frist, Trent Lot, and “The Wet Brain In Chief” who is supposed to be the “leader” of this whole mess….LOL
What is it with these guys. Why are they so consumed with gays? Who spends all this energy on this?
I have said all along, if I were one of these grieving
family members, I would kick the crap out of them. I really can’t believe it hasn’t already happened. These people really amaze me how horrible they are.
Maybe I’m wrong on this but I was under the impression that it was anti-war protesters who were terrorizing the mourners.If this is the scenerio apparently these people cannot ever be satisfied.This is mass psychosis, but I guess it is considered to be free speech.And a clue as to why the hate crimes legislation doesn’t get passed.Just when I think I can’t get any more outraged something like this comes along,lately on a daily basis.
I still can’t beleive the ignorance of these people. Blaming the deaths of courageous and fearless hero’s who fell for the protection of our country on the USA’s acceptance of homosexuals is outrageous.
These “christians” need to get a new god. Their “god” is a god of intolerance, hatred, and bigotry. Christ never taught any of those concepts. Chritian extremists are just as evil as islamic fundamentalists.
Just Wondering: They are rightwing anti-war protesters. They believe terrorism is a visitation from God and that the only way to stop it is to kill all gays.
