Way back in the last century, the Wall Street Journal’s John Fund made a name for himself on cable news as one of the leading spittle-spewin’, hyperventilatin’ Clinton-haters. (And like so many outspoken GOP moralists from the Clinton wars, he has a peccadillo or two in his closet.)
– John Fund
Back then, Fund’s message was clear: liberals and their libertine ways are the cause of all America’s problems. If Republicans ruled the world, he and his cohorts seemed to say, all our problems would be solved.
Well, listen to John Fund now:
From their scramble to ram through a national legislative solution to Terri Schiavo’s plight, to their overreaction to Hurricane Katrina, to their failure to recognize the public’s disgust with pork-barrel projects, to the Dubai Ports deal, Republicans have appeared to the world to be as unprincipled and rudderless as the politicians they campaigned against back in 1994. Unless they change course dramatically in the seven months between now and Election Day, they may well find themselves facing the same fate as the Democratic political dinosaurs of that year that they replaced.
He even takes a mild swipe at his Dear Leader (emphasis mine):
Even President Bush recognized the dangers of untrammeled earmarks.

John Who? Oh! John Fund! Wasn’t he one of those mouth-breathers always slamming Clinton for breaking the “rule of law”? Rule of law! Rule of law! We are not a nation of men, we are governed by the rule of law.
I thought he had disappeared after Bush & Co. proved him an absolute liar as they constructed this nation of men. What a f*cking fraud.
I was so happy to read Fund’s remarks that I went out and beat the crap out my wife!
There is little doubt in my mind that John Fund faked his sexual peccadillo to give himself hetero street cred. Not that I think that there is anything wrong with being gay, but staying in the closet has psycho-sexual implications that can lead to destructive politics and acts of psychological projection. Mr. Fund brings to mind the likes of McCarthy, Roy Cohn and J. Edgar Hoover. I don’t intend this as an ad hominem attack (there is nothing wrong with being gay) it is just that homophobia breeds incredibly awful character traits when it is internalized by the likes of Mr. Fund.
I’m glad that you folks read the WSJ becuase I can’t stand to read such propaganda. It reminds me of doing research when I was in a European History masters program and we had to read copies of the Volkischer Beobachter (Hitler’s Party Paper). I’m serious, having you blog types select the material worth reading is a great service. Perhaps, I’m practicing a bit too much selective exposure, but… life’s short.
Please have a little common courtesy. Your comment is total trash and displays a very sick mind.
I am with Jay Garbutt … Fund incenses me to the point I go out and kick the dog, and THEN I beat my husband …. in my home you soon find out, if you lie to me once, you are shunned for life.
Come on world Let’s all shun John Fund! Have a green life
