Plame Was the CIA’s Operations Chief of the Joint Task Force on Iraq When Bush Illegally Outed Her

Republicans have tried to portray CIA agent Valerie Plame as a desk jockey whose work was insignficant. But Michael Isikoff, in his new book, Hubris: The Inside Story of Spin, Scandal and the Selling of the Iraq War, says she was a key player in determining Iraq’s WMD capabilities during the run-up to war:

She was operations chief of the Joint Task Force on Iraq (JTFI), a unit of the Counterproliferation Division of the clandestine Directorate of Operations.

For the two years prior to her outing, Valerie Wilson worked to gather intelligence that would support the Bush White House’s assertion that Saddam Hussein’s Iraq was loaded with WMDs. This means that Armitage–as well as Karl Rove and Scooter Libby–leaked classified information about a undercover CIA officer whose job it had been to look for evidence of Saddam’s WMD programs. Any irony here? During this part of her career, Valerie Wilson traveled overseas to monitor operations she and her staff at JTFI were mounting.

Bush & Rove & Libby did nothing of the sort – Armitage admitted the “leak” and his doing so was harmless.

Robert Novak has issued a “sworn statement” that neither Libby nor Rove was his “source.’ What about this is difficult to understand?

The NY times, Judith Wilson, Joseph Wilson and Valerie Pflame (who thinks so much of Joseph that she reverted to her maiden name) knew from the get-go that the “leaker” was Armitage and proceeded with a deceitful campaign to smear an extraordinarily good man, Scooter Libby.

To paraphrase Ray Donavan who said many years ago after undergoing a similar smear strategy, “Where does Scooter Libby go to get his honor (not to mention his money) back?”

OHMYGAWD, our Bush run government just gets scarier and scarier. He just targeted her and set her out of the way…like a disposable cup. And he calls any detractors Nazi sympathizers. Trouble, Jim Robinson, Trouble.

And we are to believe that ARMATIGE is “sweet, harmless, surpassingly STUPID, and totally innocent of ANY subtle intent TO DO HIS MASTER’S BIDDING by outing the lady in question?
Those who so wish can of course kiss the wannabe-king’s not-so-royal ASS by spouting such tripe, but don’t expect anyone with an IQ of 85 or higher to buy that crap!
