Page in Foley Case Receives Threats, Was Outed by Rightwing Bloggers

“No ethics, no scruples, no morals, no compassion, no sense. Just really bad people.”
— Atrios

It is the way of the authoritarian right to threaten and bully anyone who exposes their dark ways to the light of day:

A former male House page from Louisiana has received threats since reports surfaced Friday that former Rep. Mark Foley sent him inappropriate e-mails, another congressman said Monday night.

“This teenager and his family have gone through hell,” GOP Rep. Rodney Alexander of Louisiana said.

The timing of this is unclear, but this news would seem to explain how the rightwing bullies found the page’s identity:

An obscure right-wing blogger, Wild Bill, has outed one of Mark Foley’s victims, a former Congressional page. It is a despicable act. Wild Bill however, gets almost no traffic, so the damage done to the victim’s life could have been minimal.

All that ended, however, when some of the most highly-trafficked right-wing bloggers decided to direct their readers to Wild Bill’s site. First, Roger L. Simon, co-founder and CEO of Pajamas Media — a portal and advertising broker for nearly every major right-wing blog — posted a link to Wild Bill on his personal site. (The Pajamas Media portal also linked to Wild Bill.) Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit — probably the most highly-trafficked right-wing blog — followed suit by linking to Simon’s post and the Pajamas Media post.

Atrios’s take on Simon and Reynolds:

No ethics, no scruples, no morals, no compassion, no sense. Just really bad people.

Why not get everyone to blast “wild dickheads” site and shut it down. I’m tired of this bullshit. It’s about time we fight fire with fire, that’s all these pricks understand. Most of these ass holes are bullies and when push comes to shove, most will back down.

If I were the kid….I’d sue the websites for MILLIONS. These scumbags would lose their homes, whatever money they had -everything. The kid and family should turn the threatening creeps over to law enforcement.

Republican scumb bags are probably perverts also. You guys will have a good time in jail.

When I talk the truth to any wingnut they gat defensive and feel threatened by me. I am an old hippie from the days of peace, love, rock and roll, drugs and sex with anyone, they say. I laugh at their mindless rants, and, while I laugh, they become so bent out of shape they threaten my freedom and rights as a citizen of the USA saying I had better be careful because the president might be listening to me and sending the homeland security out to pick me up. I laugh daily at their rants, like the one mentioned, and tell them to go out and play. The teacher has your back… Bush is their teacher in their school house of ill will to dissention and ill will to a freedom loving Marine like myself. Speaking the truth hurts them phony ass authoritarian loving freaks. Controlled and shame is their only life. To be anything else would be a first class ticket to the local nut ward in a hospital for benzodiazapines to calm them down at first, then haldol to keep their insanity from exploding to the gun guys for a weapon of choice to do in patriots like me who voice the truth to them and will not quit telling them they are sick. To believe in such a hate filled world is all they know because they get their knowledge from hate filled people who act godly and spirit filled in the name of greed, death and lies no matter what. Dollar signs, power and the innocent in life are their fair game, as am I, others like me in their thinking and the children they can manipulate. Teaching the children is our duty in all matters and the most important thing to teach is tolerance without ignorance.

TO STAY QUIET TO THE BUSH LOVING FREAKS IS A SIN IN MY BOOK. PREACHING HATE VS LOVE IS THAT SIN.

What a crock! The more this thing grows, the more it stinks to high heaven.
There are truly no morals in the Pubs’ party. Apparently they believe that what Foley did is not nearly as bad as what Bill Clinton did (let’s see – a consensual one-sided affair between two adults; a smarmy one-sided affair between a 52-year-old man and young boys?????
One is immoral and very bad judgment; the other is illegal as can be, as well as very bad judgment.
Why are there questions about this in the first place? The Pubs are blaming the Dems and calling this an October Surprise – my question is, if this has been going on so long and everyone knew about it, why didn’t we have this October surprise in the last presidential election, when it would have done the most good?
Nope. A Pub turned him in, and now the Dems are getting blamed. The more things change, the more they say the same, as they say.
Alcoholism, my left foot!!! He is simply a gay man who prefers young men – not really so much as pedophile, since he doesn’t have bang-bang fantasies about kids under 13 (or at least we don’t KNOW of any), but a very picky gay man, who really prefers young men of 17 and 18.
    Hmmmmm!

Compassionate conservatism is on display this week. First Hastert blames Bill Clinton (of course) and George Soros (!!), and now the wingers attack the victim.

I’ve been wondering. If the parents of the first page didn’t want this issue publicized, how happy do you think they are right about now?
And, despite Hastert’s claims to the contrary, how happy does anyone believe any parent of a page is right about now, after being trashed by the right wing idiots, like Drudge & Limpbaugh, who have blamed all this on the pages, their children.
How happy are parents who had been so proud to say that their kids were Congressional pages, only to find that Bush, Hastert & the RW chattering monkeys, will throw their kids under the bus before they’ll take an iota of responsibility for this whole shameful affair?

After five years of watching how this group “slaughters” seasoned adults who get in their way, what chance do these ordinary parents and their teenage children have? I think if I had a kid in the House Page Program with any ties at all to this mess, I’d have long since taken that kid and gotten out of Dodge.

    Swift Boating the page victims.
After these Swift Boaters get through, the Pages will be on the FBI most wanted list and there will be a statue of Foley on the grounds of Falwell’s Liberty University. Ol’ Jerry will have a photo hanging beside War hero GWB in every prayer room.

Perhaps dousing your CAPS LOCK KEY with superglue wasn’t such a great idea. Faux conservatives like to talk about personal responsibility – until they have to accept some and then they’re as scarce as Young Republicans in Iraq. When will you accept responsibility for the reprehensible behavior of the party you support and stop trying to shift blame elsewhere?

Oh my GOD, Ralph. What is this, some new GOP device? When another reprehensible repub. deed comes out, call the perp a DemLib. What I saw on Imus yesterday: there may be quite a number of gay republicoverups get outed. Will they all turn into Dems? All of you who are calling yourselves conservative need to go back to the original conservatives of say the 60s, and quit calling yourself conservative. You are NOT!

Foley is “outed” and suddenly he’s classified as a “DEMLIB.” Seems the Repugs just can’t digest that “one of their own” is no better than the pedophiles sitting in prison. Of course anyone who believes anything Rush Limbaugh has to say can’t have too many cells working upstairs. Guess Repugs can’t think back far enough to remember Rush not wanting Reagan criticized for the deals made with Saddam Hussein.
