The lust for comfort murders truth and reason, and, then, walks grinning in the funeral (to paraphrase K Giran’s Prophet). Our political hacks and religeous qwax are masters of hypocracy and charisma. Why are we surprised by their antics? We all do it…and have done it for thousands of years. The thing that really alarms and saddens me about all this is that is indicative of our species continuing and inexoroble slide towards extinction. Our inbred lust for comfort mandates that we can and will say, do and beleive anything to satiate that lust. People! Be comfortable! And die!

The GAY part doesn’t bother me. The HYPOCRISY does! These guys aren’t gay. They’re homosexual, but not gay. Gay is when you accept your sexuality and live it openly to your friends, neighbors, co-workers and family. These people did not do that. They are closeted for sure. Hypocrites absolutely. October was National Coming out Month, they had their chance. At least that part is being done, though involuntarily!

Ted Haggard is what I call a “petty moralist,” and he is well within the norms of American religious history. You would think that these guys would learn from the examples of Aimee Simple McPherson, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker and other “petty moralists” who become wealthy and influential by wagging a finger at everybody else’s sin. They are worse than the Pharisees that Jesus rails against in the New Testement. And the fact that this guy is a Bush confidant is very telling. I wonder if Teddy and Georgie were snorting meth and diddling each other when nobody was looking?

I could not add anything more to this so well stated.

The rev falwell is insisting he’s not that familiar with rev ted either and I have a hard time believing that since they seem to be a close knit closeted/perv/weird community..
