E! Online Reports Bush Drinking and Marriage Troubles Rumors

Ted Casablanca, the former gossip columnist for Premiere Magazine who now writes for E! online, is reporting rumors that circulated on supermarket tabloids, at BuzzFlash and here at Pensito Review months ago — Pres. Bush is drinking again and Laura has moved out:

Is there trouble at the White House between Dubya and first lady Laura Bush? I hear someone’s headed for a hotel, could she already be there? Hmmm…

“She’s staying at the Hay-Adams. I don’t know how many people know…but it’s probably not many.”

That’s my Desk DeeCee, hard at busybody work, informing me further of what this column has more than hinted at before: that the U.S. Chief of Grief, George W. Bush, has a wife (by the name of Laura, ‘course) who’s so damn put out by the teetotaling Texan’s return to drinking that she had to get outta the White House. Woo-hoo! That be first-class First Lady dish there, my darlin’ goss[ip] lovers!

“She just couldn’t take it anymore,” whispered a former White House staffer who remains superclose to Miz Bush. “She’s had it.”

…Oh, for the official record, neither the president’s press office nor the president’s wife’s press office would comment. Which I find damn insulting, as I help pay those persnickety peep’s salaries!

I’m still a bit wombly from the Gonzales testimony drinking game yesterday and the cutesiness of the writing is quasi sick-making. So Ted Casablanca ain’t Liz Smith, but E! Entertainment is owned by cableco Comcast, which gives the rumor a little more legitmacy than the tabs do.

Update: (4-25-07) Laura Bush appeared on the Today Show this morning but Ann Curry did not ask about these rumors. It is impossible to imagine that had Curry been interviewing First Lady Hillary Clinton 10 years ago, she would have failed to ask about stories in the tabloids. Laura did misspeak egregiously, however, when she said about Iraq, “no one suffers more than [the] president and I.” The media has one standard for Republicans and another, much lower standard for Democrats.

I think that if Laura did leave the White House it wasn’t so much because her husband is drinking but that he is probably drinking ALCOHOLICALLY. His long and well-documented history of alcoholism would preclude him from drinking “socially”. “One is too many and 100 is not enough”. If this is all true then it is further proof that “religion conversion” rarely produces long-term recovery from addictive disorders. A 12-step program, which Bush almost certainly has not been involved in, would have been a better choice and been more likely to produce long-term recovery. However, 12-step programs require the member to be scupulously honest; not something Bush has apparently been able to do in public life.

No way in hell Laura could move out and every elevator operator, maid, concierge, waiter, or fellow guest not report it to the nearest tabloid. Please.

If she moved out, she’d go to the ranch on some pretext.

This was a silly story the first time out. Not about the drinking, but about the moving out. Who knows if he’s drinking. It doesn’t make much difference, does it?

You would move out too, if you made the mistake of getting married to the likes of George “Chimp” Bush. I wonder what took her so long.

So this is why he says he is sleeping better at night than some might think. He’s in a drunken stupor.

This may also explain why is so angered at the democrats. He’s really mad at Laura for not babying him. Sleeping at a hotel without his permission. Someone needs to tell her who the Decider is.

This is a tired old rumor. The Whitehouse is large enough for Laura to find space for herself. There’s also Blair house.

Republican women love abuse, so I would think the worse George got, the more she’d like it.

I just checked and there is no extra security detail at the Hay-Adams if Laura was actually staying there. She’d have a difficult time finding a hotel that still allows smokers. As we all know here in DC, Laura Bush is a chain-smoker. Never smokes in front of the cameras. But the camera still captures the smoker’s wrinkles on her upper lip.

Blair house? Laura’s sleeping with Tony Blair?!

to point out one thing, THE FIRST LADY IS NOT STAYING at HAY-ADAMS, she never stayed at the hotel as far as i know.

Can you imagine what it would be like to live as the wife of GW? Imagine their talks. Think about that one. Then, imagine what it would be like if, on top of the horror of having GW as your best friend life partner, the weasel started drinking again? I would feel sorry for Laura, but then I realize that she has been a conscious enabler of all the destruction and mortal sins GW has perpetrated upon Texas, the United States, and the world.

Don’t you guys get it? She disguises herself. She dresses as a Muslim woman wrapping herself in a long dress and a veil. What you should be looking for is a Muslim woman with cigarette smoke coming out of her veil.

Where’s Barney?

Screw Bush and all his stupid supporters.I hope he dies of alcohol poisoning. The man is a friggin menace and so are his supporters. And Laura Bush is an idiot to believe anything an alcoholic says. The only thing worse than a lush is a junkie, and both of these types of scum will lie and steal you blind.

By now, like Hillary, Babs, Nancy, Betty, Pat and all those before her, Laura Bush has and will deal with all of the warts and flaws and stand by GWB. If he’s back on the Sauce, she has dealt with that before. The booze I can understand. It’s an illness not easily overcome by even the strongest, but I can’t understand how you can continue to live with a pathological lier and dim bulb. Her father must have been something else. Must be some sort of extreme co-dependence thing.

Drinking or not drinking, what we do know is that he is not running the country. It was never intended that he run the country. The country’s business (not the peoples’) is being conducted in our name by an unelected political operative and the VP (you provide the adjective).
Of course, he doesn’t do email…he doesn’t even write signing statements. He thinks that’s why they are called signing statements.
Such a win-win situation: Delegation of his responsibility of duty.

So what? Is this going to save the country? I guess if used his new found freedom to get a blow job the spineless congress might finally impeach him. But really, is this newsworthy in light of all the destruction this administration has done to the very fabric of this nation.

The Globe and The Examiner have been covering this for months (yes, I read the tabliods! They’re fun!) They are said to be divorcing six months after he gets out of office and the settlement has already been agreed on (but no word on who gets custody of Barney).

Drinking or not, Bush’s judgement is impaired.

The story, of course, is ridiculous as it is told. Elite aristocratic women do not move out of the palace and “stay at a hotel.”

But the story has a plausible air because most people now know that the corporate media is devious. Their content providers (”journalists”) routinely hide basic scandals in order to protect the politicians that their corporations support. If indeed Shrub and his mate were behaving like a trailer park couple on the rocks, you can be sure that the corporations would hide the facts as long as they could.

Case in point: Shrub’s Daddy, George the First, was fooling around for years with a younger babe on the side. Apparently the entire Washington Press Corp was more than aware of Daddy’s indiscretions, as did everyone inside the Beltway.

When a beleagured Hillary C. snapped at the news at the press, the corporate hypocrites lambasted her for her political incorrectness. How could she reveal what everyone knows… and hides? (Not that I love Hillary the Stealth Republican, but she had a perfect right to complain about the media.)

The real problem is the corporate media which serves us a daily diet of disinformation. Their content providers do more in one day to undermine American society than have all the bomb throwing radicals in our entire history.

The corporate media content providers are the real terrorists. It’s time to stamp out terrorism.

Maybe after the divorce and Hillary is president, Laura can run for senator from New York.

Yes, Dan - GHWB had a LTR with Jennifer Fitzgerald, which could still be going on for all anyone knows. She was not that much younger than he by the way. Because of this, we named the former president one of our “Top 10 GOP Adulterers” in 2006.

Keep in mind that many rumors have an ounce of truth. Remember the persistent rumors that Jackie Kennedy-Onassis was ill that continued surfacing for months before it was announced that she had non-Hodkins lymphoma and was terminally ill? The rumors varied as to exactly what was wrong with her and how sick she really was but the point is, they had a kernel of truth. I think this might have elements of truth to it also. Only time will tell.
If Bu$h’s Born Again conversion was the reason he stopped drinking in the first place, it’s not likely to last forever.

In the video Bush blathers on about how boring his friends are, which he mostly credits to their not liking to drink. But in one case the bore in question also doesn’t like to smoke. Given that Bush doesn’t smoke cigarettes or consider himself boring, and given the context of his blathering, one can only assume he is talking about pot that he smokes pot in addition to liking to drink.

Sometime in 2005 or 2006 there was a letter to the editor of Atlantic Magazine
from a psychiatrist who had been observing President Bush’s declining language ability. He thought Bush clearly had pre-senile dementia. As I understand it, this disease is frequently brought on by alcoholism. It seems obvious to me, that Bush’s ability to think and speak are both rapidly declining. Are there any doctors out there who care to comment on this?

I’d say the rocks in Laura’s head match the holes in his quite perfectly.
Does anyone else share the opinion that she looks stoned or tranqued all of the time. There would be more life in a mannequin.
Dumbya has to be drinking to keep the horrors of what he has done tamped firmly down, and his decreasing lack of mastery over the English language confirms it. Look at the man’s eyes and turn off the sound next time you see him in action. Scary.

I’ve suspected Shrub has been drinking since the pretzel incident. My sister the nurse said she thought it odd that Shrub didn’t get a checkup, complete with an exam on a tilt table. Also, the dogs didn’t go into distress. They just looked and thought, drunk again.

I have long thought Voice from the White House…tbrnews.org was the voice of Laura Bush. She reads voraciously and the writer was literate and witty. Voice hasn’t been from the WH for several weeks. Is she gone? I would bet yes. After watching Bush’s last public appearance…he is on the sauce and obnoxious.

Surprise! The hypocrite in chief is having marriage problems… yet he still insists that heterosexual marriage is superior to the relationship between LGBT partners who are faithful, supportive and devoted to one another. According to Bush, gay and lesbian partners should be denied the legal right to marry! Until Bush (and Mark Foley and Ted Haggard and the rest of the right-wing hypocrites) stop scapegoating our families, we will need to put our wishes in writing — get all our ducks in a row — by creating free and affordable legal documents to protect our relationships and our rights.

Bush appeared to be heavily medicated or something two years ago. Then, right before Katrina, during his vacation @ Crawford, there were tabloid headlines that he’d fallen off the wagon–hard, and that Laura was really p.o.’d at him.

Then there have been rumors about the First Lady’s displeasure regarding her husband’s relationship with Condee (the “work wife”).

I can just picture the inner circle coaching the First Lady–”C’mon! If you don’t keep it together with your husband, how will the voting public buy the Republicans as the family values crowd? Clinton’s wife didn’t leave him!”

Then again, Senator Clinton didn’t get off scot-free after mowing down her b.f. when she was drunk driving, either.

Laura should really consider staying with her husband–after all, they’re not done raising their children. *rolls eyes*

If Bush is as inept in the marital bed as he is in everything else, it is clear that Laura is looking for a way out. The alcoholic transgressions while true are an excuse. Laura wants true passion. 2008 will bring the divorce. Laura will get a nice settlement. Eventually, she will be like a Jackie or Diana and date some billionaire foreigner. Bush will be humiliated, but tough stuff he won’t have the CIA to do his dirty work. He will end up being married to Ann Coulter. They will have twins who they name Dick and Donald who will be the ugliest kids you have ever seen.

Since Laura killed her boyfriend when she was 16, she and W have too much in common to divorce.

I don’t think he ever quit drinking in the first place. But, take a look at his appearance now~and his latest speech, last week, talking about “chicken-plucking farms or whatever” was rambling, incoherent and sophomoric. I loathe the man, and I was embarrassed for him just watching him. He is CLEARLY drinking again.

As long as he doesn’t go back to tormenting animals (blowing up frogs with firecrackers), I don’t think she has anything to worry about.

I read that Laura’s accident was not caused by drinking, but by Laura as a teen driver making a common mistake and running a stop sign, with horrifically fatal consequences. It’s my understanding that alcohol was not a factor, just driver error and inexperience.

Give the lady a break for once. If you had to live with that for the rest of your life–well, maybe W is her accepted penance, her hair shirt. I wouldn’t trade places with her. She killed her BOYFRIEND. Laura probably minutely remembers every dreadful detail like any Nam vet. She was condemned at an early age in some people’s eyes, and knows it. Have mercy.

A small Chris Rockism: I’m not saying I agree with the people excoriating Laura — but I understand.
It might be more tempting to let her be if she weren’t herself engaged in publicly supporting, not just privately enabling, all the Bush cabal screwups. Remember how we were going to be improving women’s rights in Iraq? Funny how we don’t hear about that any more, innit?
Not to mention that we’re dealing with the same crowd that called Chelsea Clinton the White House dog. I’m not saying I agree — but I understand.

Salah Ud Deen does like little boys.

in any event.. your rumor has as much weight as kate moss.

I can’t see her moving out because he’s started drinking again, but all that reported jocular flatulence? I’d be gone.

I don’t think that GWB and Ann Coulter could have kids, since Ann is the man. Although GW does like boys.

Bush needs to get into a 12 step program and get honest with himself for once in his.

Well, that would explain a lot of his decision-making…

Laura seems to be a tranked Stepford woman.
As the poster above said, she
has had to live with what happened when she was 16 every day of her life, and now has to live with this sociopathic murderer, and criminal. And,deep down, she knows he is.
And, as was also said above, as all the rest before her, she has fulfilled her duty at heavy cost, like the rest.
There isn’t a Betty Ford Clinic for nothing.
I am concerned for Barney.
She sure as hell better take him,or Lord only knows what will become of the little guy.
Dumbya can’t even carry him without dropping the poor thing on the tarmac.Oh, the look he got from her that day…..

If the members of the vulture press and all the armchair quarterbacks in the general population could sit in the President’s chair for a few days, they might understand the crushing pressures his position imposes. The wonder is that the Bushes have survived as well as they have. Note how many who have held that office have had deep problems. Doesn’t that tell you something about the crap the President has to put up with, not to say decisions that can help or hinder the entire world? Does anyone in America have any shred of gratitude and compassion - or only cheap insults and innuendos? Any idiot can ridicule and curse. Try praying for them. Your political label be damned!

This constant whining and complaining from conservatives is getting tiresome. Take responsibility for your actions. You voted for him. It was a terrible decision that has turned out to be devastating for the country.

Conservatives need to stop humiliating themselves with this cult of victimhood.
