President of the Christian Action League, 74, Is Arrested after Allegedly Paying Hooker with Checks

Privette on two occasions allegedly paid the prostitute with checks then reported the checks stolen.

Coy Privette, Tiffany Denise Summers

Rev. Coy Privette, the president of the Christian Action League, a North Carolina ultraconservative Christian political organization based in Raleigh, has been arrested for soliciting prostitution:

Privette, 74, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor aiding and abetting prostitution by renting a hotel room and paying for sexual acts, according to State Bureau of Investigation Agent Kevin Canty. Tiffany Denise Summers, 32, of Salisbury, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor prostitution, Canty said.

Police said officers were investigating a forged check case, which led them to the prostitution charges. Privette on two occasions allegedly paid the prostitute with checks then reported those checks as stolen, officials said.

According to its website, the Christian Action League is:

a Christian public policy organization that addresses public policy and legislative issues from a Christian worldview. The Christian Action League has a full-time presence in the General Assembly of North Carolina and has garnered considerable respect from both the Republican and Democratic parties. The League’s purpose is to assist the church in fulfilling Christ’s command to be the “salt” and the “light” of the earth.

The Christian Action League is funded by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, and it is affiliated with the ultra-rightwing American Family Association.

For over three decades, Privette has been one of the best known and most outrageous spokesmen for “family values” and Christian extreme right politics in North Carolina. In the 1970s, he was serving as minister at the North Kannapolis Baptist Church when he joined the tide of evangelicals entering politics that included the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition. He served in the N.C. Legislature from 1984 to 1992, and has been a member of the board of commissioners in Cabarrus County since 1998.

He and his wife, Betty, have four children.

The rabid hypocrisy seen from the religious right for more than three decades , has been breathtaking. The list of conservatives charged with sex offences far exceeds that of any other group. The pinnacle of bigotry, however, is seen in the relentless and irrational oposition to equality for all Americans.

Clinton had a somewhat cute gal and did not have to pay her. This gal here was the best our super-Christian could get and he had to pay as well?

Well, doug, give her the benefit of the doubt – people tend to look their worst in mugshots.

And that guy is no Bill Clinton either.

    Machiavelli did sayeth:

I desire to go to Hell, not to Heaven. In Hell I shall enjoy the company of popes, kings and princes, but in Heaven are only beggars, monks, hermits and apostles.

Actually, yes, he did, kind of. It was back in the mid-80’s when he was Mayor of Cincinnati. Talk about thinkin’ with yer bonehead!

However,he has never been a hypocrital Xtian, and didn’t claim the check was stolen. And as you know, he has gone on to improve the quality of television programming so much that he should be enshrined in cement.

All these Xian conservatives look like bullfrogs, it’s no wonder they have to pay for sex, but what gets me is how this rich pious man attempted to stiff the hooker and get her arrested for stealing his checks. That is evil to the core and the whole thing is pretty much the polar opposite of what Jesus would do.

You know I live in the county (Cabarrus) where Coy Privette is a politician. Someone commented this morning to leave him alone. This is a “victimless crime”. No one mentioned the money he pays this unfortunate women supports her drug habit, supports the drug dealers, and leads to children being drawn into child pornography. Hopefully the courts will make an example of him because of the high profile he has always sought and let him serve a couple of weeks of jail time. This will send a message to the other politicians in this county who the rumor has always been are up to their own particular questionable activities.

I noticed that his organization didn’t have this story up on their web site, so I sent them the link and a reminder that they neglected to include this important news about the wonderful work they’re doing for the lord.

Just want to help out where I can, ya know?

Makes me want to puke. Rev. Coy and his pack of hypocrites want to legislate morality for the rest of the country, all the while whoring in the alleys and streets. Family values my ass.

I’m not at all shocked by this because these folks like this have been transparent to me all my life.My parents taught me to see right through their masks and what i saw scared the daylights out of me.What i saw were folks that wanted me to do as they say and not as they do and unfortunately for those that do not think would fall right into this trap. And if your going to bang hookers for gosh sakes at least get one that doesn’t look like death warmed over and then pay for it,geez.

When the girl is arrested for the stolen checks, you see, she will go to jail and be looked after, and recieve counseling and medical treatment. While incarcerated, she will read the Bible and come to know Jesus. The Lord works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform, you know. Well, you libs wouldn’t know anything about it. You probably don’t hire prostitutes and pay them with stolen checks. Don’t you care about people at all? Isn’t sex worth anything to you? Do you just take it for free? You are awful!

Besides, prison is a violent place, sometimes. If the poor prossie is born again in the Spirit, and then killed by a violent inmate, zap, right to Heaven. You libs do want people to go to heaven, don’t you?

Hypocrites, the whole lot! How is it that all of these “holier than thou” “christians” put on an outraged face when this kind of behavior seems to be the status quo – the one in Denver, this one, Vitter, et al – and this was bring truth and integrity back to the US after Clinton left – what Clinton did in no way hurt anyone in this country, it should have been between himself and his wife. but before you salivating right-wingers jump on me for saying that, at NO TIME did Clinton hold himself up as an example of shining virtue. And yet they impeached him – now that the shoe is on the Repug shoe, it can be shoved under the rug and “forgiveness” is requested.

sorry – not going to happen in my lifetime….

So if it’s not really family values that all of these old RICH WHITE men and young southern WHITE men rally around, then what could cause so many WHITE, WEALTHY, men to come together as ‘Christian leaders’ and support the republican party?

I know the answer is out there…perhaps in their past among other ‘groups’ with ‘Christian WHITE values’. For now though it eludes me.
