The religion actually is peaceful if you have a brain inside that thick skull of yours. The problem is that people believe that they can judge and impose their beliefs on other people(not everyone believes what you do and you can't make them). There is nothing wrong with being a muslim or believing that being gay is wrong, but when you forget and interfere with someones life based on your beliefs is where things go wrong. God is the only one that can judge each and every one of us, because our religion and beliefs are between each one of us and God. So if you don't 100% follow the religion, that should be between you and God. If your beliefs allow you to do something the some belve is wrong, then if you will be punished, God should be the one punishing you. If you are not harming anyone, then your beliefs should be respected. Not respected not for the rest of the world, but respected because all religions should be respected, and all religions (including islam) promote respect for all religions, Nationalities, and races. The poor southern whites were angry because they lost the gorup that they and suppresed beneath themselves so as to make themselves feel better for centuries. It is the same thing when we talk about homosexuality. They see a loving relationship that may seem a little different and they take that difference coupled with their desire to not be on the bottom (perhaps they are unhappy sexually, or spiritually, or emotionally) and use anti-homosexual behavior as a cover to make them feel better.
