I am a life long atheist. For me, “CHRISTMAS” quite simply is non-existant, hence there is no reason to be involved in any part of the greatest sales gimmick of all time.
So those who wish to do the “CHRISTMAS” drill are welcome to do so in anyway they see fit that stays within the law, just as those who do the tooth fairy thing can put all the teeth they wish under “THEIR” pillows, or the Easter egg types can do their rituals.
The few “ATHEISTS” that I know personally seem to agree that “making war” be it on “CHRISTMAS” or any other “ism”, “-ology”, or ghost stories of any type, is a pointless waste of time and energy which is better spent in some other endeavor which has at least SOME basis in reality.
