Rumor: Obama Would Nominate John Edwards for Attorney General

This could just be Robert Novak making mischief:

Illinois Democrats close to Sen. Barack Obama are quietly passing the word that John Edwards would be named attorney general in an Obama administration.

Installation at the Justice Department of multimillionaire trial lawyer Edwards would please not only the union leaders supporting him for president, but organized labor in general. The unions relish the prospect of an unequivocal labor partisan as the nation’s top legal officer.

It’s considered bad luck, or maybe hubristic, for primary candidates to start naming cabinet officials so the Obama campaign has been mum about Novak’s story.

Funny thing about this is, my friend and fellow political junkie, M. Tuttle, an Obama supporter, mentioned this possibility to me over lunch more than a month ago.

John Edwards for AG?, Nah, maybe VP.

Not famous, but Alan Grayson of FL should be AG. check him out, he’s been taking Iraq war profiteers to court and winning. He’s got a stainless stell spine and cahones.

Jim Webb for Sec Def.

Hillary for HHS, put her in charge of health care, only this time give her the tools and the back-up to get it done.

Bill Clinton for US ambassador to the UN, eventually Secretary General of the UN. With Obama in the White house and Bill at the UN, we would find the world willing to stand with us again.

Al Gore, in a new cabinet position to head up a new Manhatten project to get us off of foreign oil and into self-sustaining energy all across the country.

Bill Richardson, Secretary of State.

Simon Wiesenthal, Murtha, & Waxman to head up a special commission to investigate corruption and abuse in the Bush Administration in alll areas relating to the build-up to the invasion of Iraq, torture, secret prisons, etc.

Chris Dodd has been showing how to fight the good fight over the retroactive FISA immunity bill, he should be in there too, in fact, he might be a great Independent Prosecutor. He understands the importance of the Constitution and the Rule of Law.

Kucinich for VP

Seriously, KUCINICH for VP. Obama can learn a hell of a lot from him I think… and if he had both Kucinich and Edwards in his cabinet… he’d basically lock up most of the democratic vote, along with some people that would have supported ron paul.

Simon Wiesenthal died in Sept. 2005.

Obama could save us all a lot of time and some of his supporters a little money if he’d simply take up “Fantasy Football” and leave selecting a cabinet to grown-ups.

Jon Ponder is just too transparent for words. He admits hearing the rumor from an Obama supporter and then tries to characterize Novak’s reporting it as “making mischief”. Which is it, Jon? Are you implying that Obama’s reported selection of Edwards as Sec/State might not be prudent?

NO LET JOHN EDWARDS BE BAMMERS –CHEIF ADVISER– THEN HE CAN TELL OBAMA WHERE WHEN WHAT AND HOW for BAMMER does not give me the IMPRESSION that he knows SHIT!!!! about anything!

RE: Comments by “roooth”………
Yeah, I like Bill as US Rep. to the UN! I hadn’t thought of that.
HRC should be VP. Good stepping stone. Richardson definitely Sec. State. Kucinich as Sec. Labor! Rudy as ICE commisioner, until he overreaches (pretty soon). Fred T. for Federal Monuments Commission. And Edwards as AG…Excellent!!!

I was a Junior in high school when John Kennedy was running for President. For those one-thousand days that he lived as our President, we had hung on every word, smile, and hand movement he made. Our Country and that of World was transformed into something very special, young in spirit–if not age, bright and hopeful. We, Americans could do anything if we put our mind and spirit to it–even fly to the moon! We were transformed into idealistic Mother Teresa’s, volunteering in anti-poverty programs, Headstart and the Peace Corps, among other volunteer services, for those young and old, who wanted to give something back to our beloved America. It was a very good time to be young and alive! That is, until the 3 world-shaking assassinations of John, Bobby and Martin and the Vietnam War. From that point on everything turned into a dark, hopeless nightmare with no exit in sight.

Thanks to Senator Obama, I believe again. I have that hope thing again. Maybe our 3 daughters can have that sense of happiness and “can do” the way my husband and I felt back in the early ‘60s when John Kennedy was President. I see a change arising from the ashes of our mass materialism, selfishness, and those unseemly corporate profits at the expense of our Country’s deteriorating infrastructure, educational institutions, health, transportation, and municipal, county, state and national governmental bodies

I believed that America never starts wars–we end them! So much for the Rule of Law. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights are as dream-like now as King Arthur’s Camelot. Perhaps, the young boy that King Arthur sent away from the battle field of a doomed kingdom can remind us of what we are really losing should we not correct our present course.

HEY LORETTA MC FADDEN!!! BARRACKY IS NO ! JOHN F KENNEDY! Far from him! WAIT UNTIL HE AND HIS BLACK CLAN puts WHITE PEOPLE UNDER RULE! KIND OF WORK MUSLEMS DO that are part ATHIESTS too and PARTLY FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY TOO!!! JOHN EDWARDS IS THE MAN AND HAS THE GUTS AND BRAINS TO BRING US TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regarding comments by c:

Wow! Now you’re seeing the racist wackos come out of the woodwork. They’re simply terrified of a man who is half-black being president.

That being said, I would rather see Kucinich as Speaker of the House with Edwards as AG. We need a Speaker with some cojones who will bring the right legislation to the floor.

And for those saying Obama doesn’t know anything - he certainly knew enough, before the Iraq war, to say exactly what would happen - we would get bogged down in a civil war with no end in sight. Apparently all of the “experienced” politicians couldn’t see that one coming - including Edwards and Clinton (In reality we all know the vote for what it was: a safe vote to not be looked at as ‘unpatriotic’)

THAT WILL BE FINE! VOTE FOR THE BLACK C——–R AND GET WHAT YOU DESERVE I HOPE I WILL VOT FOR JOHN EDWARDS AND IF HE DOES NOT WIN I WLL VOTE REPUG FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE JUST TO VOTE AGAINST JAM BAMMER!

racism and stupidity go hand and hand. thanks for showing us all that, “c”.

and why are you afraid of him turning a “black clan” against the white folks? afraid of what goes around comes around?

i don’t think you have to worry about barack. he’s smarter than you.
