Why Are Obama Supporters Swiftboating Hillary Clinton?

The Shocking Video Swiftboating Hillary Obama Wants You To See!!

Maybe things aren’t as rosy at the Obama campaign as his team — and the completely smitten mainstream media — would have us believe. Other than desperation, what else would explain the waves of “Obamabots” spamming the comments boards of liberal websites with Clinton-hating screeds?

The most egregious of these was posted today in the comments for this site by a spammer using the handle “S Bison.” It is a link to a trailer for an anti-Clinton video that nonpartisan Factcheck.org compared with “‘The Mena Coverup,’ ‘The Clinton Chronicles’ and others accused Clinton of a range of illegal and unethical acts. Like many — we daresay most — of those, this video contains a lot of false, unproven and misleading material. And what it leaves out is often more important than what it tells us.”

Here’s Factcheck.org’s summary of its detailed analysis of the video:

• The video gives the false impression that the Clintons somehow caused Paul to be investigated for securities fraud as retaliation for a lawsuit he filed against them. But the investigation – and Paul’s indictment – came first.

• A lawyer appearing on the video claims that a telephone conversation between Paul, Hillary Clinton and others shows that she had knowledge of and perpetrated illegal campaign activities, when the conversation illustrates no such thing. It only shows Hillary thanking organizers of a fundraiser.

• The same lawyer alleges that the actions of Clinton and those working for her amounted to "the largest fraud in election funding history," a claim that is absurd. The campaign was fined for a reporting violation, not "fraud." And the fine was relatively modest compared with other FEC fines.

• The video makes deceptive use of an ABC "20/20" clip in an effort to prove that the Clintons pretended not to know who Paul was after his criminal past came to light.

(Read the full analysis here.)

At least the Ron Paul spammers were polite and earnest, the virulence of the Obamabots’ hatred for Clinton is so similar to the rightwingers’ that it gives pause. Could these be Republicans out to goad liberals into voting for Obama, whom they know to be a much weaker candidate against McCain?

Hard to say, but if they are out to split the party in two, they’re doing a great job. Can Obama truly be a unifier if his supporters are such jerks? Until a few days ago, I was among the Clinton supporters who felt that if Obama were to be the nominee I would readily support him. I have voted for the Democrat in every election since 1976, but over the past few days — thanks to the nastiness of S. Bison and his ilk — I’ve found myself seriously considering not voting in November if Obama is the nominee.

Let the presidency of John McCain rest on their heads, I’m tempted to think, as Reagan’s does on the noggin of Teddy Kennedy, who split the party in 1980, paving the way for the conservative ascendancy.

I’m not there yet, but I am puzzled why Obamabots think their bullying tactics would make anyone want to vote for Barack Obama, or any candidate.

Hillary voted for and continued to vote for a war that gave Bush legitimacy for his power grab that has pratically destroyed this nation. Democrats must start to hold their own leaders accountable. Hillary, Nancy, and Harry all need to be kicked out. They are no better the any of the Republicans because they are enablers of tyrany.

The recent polls are showing that Obama is much stronger in the general against McCain than HRC. Obama will beat McCain solidly among Independents and the Youth vote. McCain might wrap up the blue-hair vote.

Mr. Crackcorn, you are an idiot. If you choose to vote for an in-experienced smooth operator, so be it, but some of us are attempting to make an informed decision based upon the issues, and the qualifications of those seeking the office of President of the United States. You and others in Both campaigns are making a mockery of the process which serves as a grave dis-service to all “thinking” Americans everywhere. We all cannot be one of Oprah’s “favorite things.”

If you want to support the sleazy politics of the Clintons have the self-respect and honesty to do so directly.. but maybe that is too contradictory for a Clinton supporter to do… it is you who are swiftboating Obama and claiming it is the other way around…Bush-Cheney-Clinton sleaze continues; this country deserves better, much better than these low life characters who enrich themselves and claim to be for the working people.

Whoa, everyone. Passion is good but mean spirited attacks on Democrats by other Democrats seems to me to be much more worthy of Karl Rove than of folks who have been subjected to unwarranted attacks by Republicans for the past decade - and longer. This name-calling benefits only John McCain and his party. It is dispiriting! Now, it does make me wonder who would want to tear apart the party that has generated a turnout that promises to bring a Democrat to the White House and, if successful, to a veto-proof majority in the House and Senate as well. Who has the experience in vitriol distribution to enter into the blogosphere with the seeds of hate and distrust? I think the experts are those who have shown such skills for more than a decade. The Republicans gain from every attack on either Clinton or Obama. The idea that anyone who has lived through these war-crazed, anti-choice, anti-environment, corrupt, insider trading Republican years would actually choose to renew them rather than vote for their candidate’s nominated Democratic opponent staggers the imagination. Let’s all clean it up a bit and fight together against the Republican military-industrial complex instead of fighting with each othereach other.
