If we give telcos blanket immunity from all lawsuits from people who were damaged by the government eavesdropping and were not terrorists , we are following the wrong path . We the people do not want government eavesdropping without warrant and probable cause . The telcos should only be given immunity in cases where terror links are proven beyond a reasonable doubt .

I suppose the GOP is representing their constituencies by choosing to grant immunity to the telcos since republicans elected and supported (at least for the first 4 or 5 miserable years)the failure known as george “dubya” bush, but they are shirking their sworn duty by walking out, so I think it would be a fair and reasonable solution to FIRE them like their idol Ronald Reagan did to the air-traffic controllers in the early 80’s.

I don’t see what the problem is. Pass the bill and add a signing statement saying the president can give retroactive immunity. If you doubt the outcome you can ask the (his) Supreme Court.

The house GOPs have stock in these Telecoms, therefore they ARE these telecoms. (Not to mention campaign contributions from same)

This raises another point.

There should be a law put into effect that if you own stock in a company you will not be allowed to vote in any issues involving that company, the same as a judge being barred from ruling on any lawsuits/cases he has interests in.

Yet, I lived in Santa Barbara, CA for 12 years and witnessed wealthy judges rule on many cases which involved companies or property they had stock or land or some other interest in. You can guess what their rulings were, and even though it was obvious they ruled to benefit their own power and position, about 90% of the time the rulings stood.
