Finally, someone is protesting the world’s most odious protester. The Million Fag March is set for Sunday morning, March 30 in Topeka, Kan., home of Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church.
Fred and his family (13 children and 54 grandchildren) show up at military funerals with signs reading, “God Hates Fags,” “God Hates America,” “Fags Die, God Laughs,” etc. Fred apparently arrives at these insights after personal discussions with The Creator wherein He tells Fred that everything bad that happens in the world is His revenge for America “tolerating” gays.
Organizers say it’s time to “show Phelps and his church that freedom of speech works both ways.”
One of Phelps’ horribly misguided supportersThere are two big challenges with the march. First is the laws passed in Topeka to protect other churches from Phelps. They prohibit the Freds of the world (of which, mercifully, there are few) from getting within 50 feet of a house of worship for a half-hour before or after services are planned. So the march might have to take place in Topeka but not too close to Westboro Baptist.
The second challenge could be even harder. Organizers are determined to keep the protest peaceful, but since Fred’s whole goal is to whip up feelings of intolerance and hate, not responding in kind will be a toughie. Still, the expectation is clear.
Absolutely. No. Violence. It doesn’t matter if Fred Phelps comes to the March himself and starts throwing punches. The police will handle it.
If you feel that you could in any way be provoked, do not plan on attending.
…The Phelps family uses hate speech to draw attention to themselves. To do that during the March would only be bringing ourselves down to their level. So, please, no hate speech on your signs, clothes, and mouths.
Besides, “God Hates Fred†signs are lame and obvious. You can do better. Sending the message you want to send without being blatantly hateful shouldn’t be all that hard for you.

What fred phelps does is very Wrong to say the least. Something obviously went badly wrong somewhere. I’m fairly certain they don’t resort to violence. Personally I’d love to go up to Fred Phelps and pop him a good one, but this is just the type of conflict he adores…anything that gets his pathetic little church in the news…
They don’t want violence…they want a lawsuit. Don’t give them the opportunity.
Maybe you’re right and all they want is to have the WBC in the news. But something has to be done. It will be an act of solidarity against people who preach hate and bigotry. There needs to be hope for a better future for those in the GLBT community. We have to try.
i really appreciate what the “marchers” are trying to accomplish. i understand the philosophy that by giving them energy we give them power, or by paying attention to people like fred phelps we only give in to his deep-seated need for attention. that being said, too many times these types of philosophies are used as an excuse for why you didnt do anything. i hear this excuse in so many different forms. the truth is, most times you dont say anything to a bully because you are afraid, and so because you are afraid you rationalize that with the reasoning that you are doing the right thing by ignoring him. you arent ignoring him, you are hiding. a true bully does not care how many times you beg him to stop, or the blank look on your face when he is calling you names. he is feeding off the fear you have, and in my life, bullies have never gone away because i acted as if they didnt exist. sometimes, confrontation is the answer, and i support those brave enough to confront fred phelps in any way they can.

The Christians need Fred Phelps Instead of Mat Staver’s Promotion of Separation of Church and State

Thank GOD for Fred Phelps and Sally Kern of Oklahoma City and the reports that she had the courage to speak the truth of GOD’S word about the sodomites or “HOMOSEXUAL’S” wicked lifestyle.
On the contrary, I watched the California Supreme Court arguments featuring Mat Staver and I was appalled. I could not believe that someone, who has Mat Staver’s background, would go out of his way to LEAVE GOD OUT of his arguments which made his foundation obsolete.
Mat Staver looked and sounded like a FOOL! In the Bible, GOD told Jeremiah to speak ALL that He told him to speak or GOD would confound him. Thank GOD Jeremiah obeyed GOD. Unfortunately Mat Staver DID NOT.
Speaking of lukewarm, Mat Staver stayed in his comfort zone and refused to be hot like Judge Roy Moore…”MOORE OF GOD.”
I have emailed Mat Staver about his double-mindedness in refusing to do his legal arguments using the Holy Bible as his foundation.
The Apostle Paul stated that his words were NOT of man’s wisdom, but based on the power of GOD to paraphrase.
The HOLY BIBLE states that marriage is honorable in all, but wh0remongers and adulterers, GOD will judge. Also, GOD ordained that a man would leave his father and mother in order to be joined with his wife and the male and the female were naked and not ashamed. For starters, Mat Staver could have argued I Corinthians Chapter 7 which states that to avoid fornication that every man should have his own WIFE and that every woman should have her own HUSBAND.
Most importantly, the summation is gay marriages are wrong because GOD states that it is wrong in the HOLY BIBLE. If those sodomites could quote Shakespeare within their arguments, why didn’t Mat Staver quote GOD?
This is what the Bible is speaking of when it warns us that if we deny CHRIST before man that CHRIST would deny us before his FATHER. What are you afraid of Mat…being debarred?
It is ironic that Mat Staver promotes that there is no separation of church and state, but by his own actions, he promotes constant separation of church and state.
Mat Staver, in closing, please make up your mind and choose this day WHO you will serve and if you will one day decide to answer the great commission to go into all of the world and PREACH THE GOSPEL TO EVERY CREATURE which does not exempt plaintiffs, judges, magistrates, bailiffs, media, sodomites, etc.

The march
Please do not be under the delusion that the Phelps gang are not violent. They love to provoke attacts with their vile language and it is not beneath them to take it further. I lived in Topeka a few years ago and know very well what they are like. They make a living suing people and they will sue someone for this demonstration, most probably the city of Topeka for allowing some assault to happen. They have sued the city before and won a sizable amount. Please, please, please, do not interact with them AT ALL during this march. Believe me they are planning well for this. I hope to make it for the march but if not, I wish everyone well.
Someone make sure that when he goes to meet his supposedly hateful maker, that we locate his grave.
All of us should stop by and take a leak as we pay our final respects!
Ms. Bethel is refreshing in that she recognizes that it is CHRIST that it is all about! With regard to Mr. Staver, I do not know the particulars, but you are certainly right about his ilk being ever ready to sell out, whoever is necessary, so that they can WIN, even if the argument(s) they are using are IRRATIONAL. Speaking of irrational, you fags and your wimp arguments about being peaceful are quite ridiculous. The very act of being a fag requires violence, add to that the act of gathering together in ANY number and you are geometrically multiplying the violence. You all are always whining around about civil rights and being treated equal. What about the rights of those individuals that you damage for life, when you impose your perverted filth! Ah, Fred Phelps. A man and his family damned by God for so many sins. I doubt there is any hope for such unrepentant sinners. To commit so many mortal sins and then blame it on Him is blasphemy of an incredible magnitude. I will continue to pray for you and your family Mrs. Phelps-Griffin. But if you cannot accept God’s love and repent, your hate filled soul cannot be saved.

I would pay a large sum for the whole Phelps family to listen to a psychiatrist explain to them why they ALL choose to blame dead people capable of magic for their compulsion to obsess about homosexuality, in a live televised event. A licensed doctor could turn the whole family into screaming successfully suicidal Dan Browns with no more than a 3.5 minute dose of truth and reality. Make them hear the truth of their actions in front of one another. Phelps does have a daughter who ran away from home to rid her life of his abuse. His other offspring just can not seem to prove to the world, or themselves, that they have the ability to complete some rational thought processes. It is wonderful that they think they’re going to a “heaven,” while we can’t wait for their departure.
That family actually thinks and whole heartedly believes and feels that they are the messengers of a god on a supernatural mission to communicate to the world that ALL of its evils would disappear if homosexuals were heterosexuals. How naive, ignorant and childish. This family will be cited in medical literature.
And Phelps’ handsome daughter, a lawyer, should know their defense and reasoning to support their obsession with degrading homosexuals is he said she said bs. Look at what they do, they REPEATEDLY refer to an ancient desert survival guide: “Paul said…..,” “Leviticus said….,” “Corinthians says…..” Note they NEVER quote ANYTHING current from proven medical science. By simple use of the scientific method their actions and beliefs carry pathological weight that are rarely matched.
