Firefighters are asking for offensive billboards in the Orlando area, that promote a web site selling a CD, to be taken down. The billboards blame the 9/11 attacks on Democrats while the inane song advertised doesn’t even mention the attacks. Instead, you get little bon mots like this:
Mike Meehan himself — this explains a lot.The Democrat secular progressive move,
political correctness is killing us too.
They want to take the money from the hard workin’ man,
and give it to the lazy folks that don’t give a damn.
And this:
Republicans, we’re not perfect but we know the truth
We uphold the Constitution and the Golden Rule.
We believe a man’s freedom is a God given right,
the USA is the beacon to the whole world in sight.
Just flows, doesn’t it? The songwriter/billboard leaser, Mike Meehan, doesn’t get why people, including fellow Republicans, would be upset over his masterpiece.
“It’s just a silly little billboard,” he said.
The one that features smoke coming out of the building where more than 2,700 people died?
“Well, maybe not silly,” Meehan responded. “But I never thought it would go this far.”
But the International Association of Firefighters doesn’t see it the same way as Meehan and said so in a press release.
“There’s a big difference between honoring and remembering the fallen – fire fighters and civilians – and shamelessly plastering the image of the burning Twin Towers on a purely political billboard with an offensive statement currying favor for or against a political party. It is offensive to those who died on 9/11. It’s offensive to their families. It’s offensive to those of us in the fire service.
“Debilitating illnesses have stricken fire fighters and others among the 40,000 people – police, building trades, sanitation workers, victims, witnesses and others – who inhaled Ground Zero’s toxic soup of 400 chemicals. Thousands of New York fire fighters have suffered enormously and labor just to breathe. They are living victims who battle violent symptoms of respiratory illness each day.
“A study in 2006 found that more than 12,000 of our members in the International Association of Fire Fighters who work in New York lost 12 years’ worth of lung function in a year following the attacks.
“The individual who designed and paid for these billboards deserves scorn. The company that agreed to run them should be ashamed.”
If you would like to second that emotion, send an email to Mike Meehan at pleasedontvoteforademocrat@yahoo.com and Beech Outdoor Advertising via tricia@beechoutdoor.com.

Meehan is one of the thirty percenters obviously, but make no mistake, a thirty percenter with a lot of money can do a lot of damage.
Which brings up another point; the old saying, “United we stand, divided we fall” is more obvious today than ever. Will the citizens of the U.S. EVER get over their petty differences and truly unite?! Or, maybe with all of our creature comforts we just don’t care?
One more thing, I was reading the July 28th issue of Time magazine, the one with “Afghanistan, The Right War” on the cover, and something hit me, I used to wonder what the hell we were doing in Iraq, but that has become obvious, OIL. Ok, got that one. Now, can someone please tell me, what in the hell are we trying to accomplish in Afghanistan?! The cover of Time says “On How to Defeat the Taliban”, but weren’t the Russians trying to do just that? Didn’t they get their asses handed to them? Why does the U.S. think it’s going to do any better? I read somewhere that NO invader has EVER won against the native Afghanis… The U.S. didn’t learn from the French in Vietnam, and they didn’t learn from the Russians in Afghanistan. Makes me wonder, maybe it’s for control of the opium??? Production has DOUBLED since the U.S. has been there…
Good observations, nikolai, but no, the Soviets weren’t fighting the Taliban, simply creating the conditions for the Taliban to arise and flourish, which they did shortly after the Soviets left. Anyone interested in understanding more about Afghanistan should read the books of Khaled Hosseini, “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns.”
Firefighters Appalled at 9/11 Billboards…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the event depicted on the billboard take place when a Republican was President and Republicans controlled both houses of Congress.
There is no way of knowing how well President Gore (he won the election, so is entitled to the title) would have handled things. Perhaps he would have listened to Richard Clarke and understood the August 6th PDB, perhaps not. But we KNOW how Resident Bush handled it, and that suggests that the best way of avoiding a repetition it not to vote for a Republican.
It is clear that Meehan, like many of the 30 percenters, is two strings short of a dueling banjo. But what else do you expect from people who buy cards saying “Happy Birthday Uncle Dad?”
9/11 was an inside job. I think it involved Dem’s and Rep’s and Israelis terrorist. But it was the Repiglicans in office. The war for 9/11 should be at the White House not Afghanistan or Iraq.
I don’t think either party has room to stand in claiming to support the constitution. For example, can you say FISA?
Some times I wonder what “Free Speech” really means. Does it in fact authorize a citizen to slander and demean? This “song” and this “billboard” should in no way be associated with the Republican party. Please America, recognize it for what it is….slander against us all! As a Republican, I find this to be highly offensive to all Americans.

From therepublicansong.com:
“No we can’t afford to have another ATTACK, Oh no, please don’t vote for a Democrat.”
I guess I just don’t understand… the 9/11 attacks have nothing to do with Democrats except insomuch as a bipartisan Congress foolishly supported The USA Patriot Act out of fear and desperation.
What do the smoking holes of domestic terrorism have to do with music?
And finally, if this man had ANY understanding of high school level poli-sci he would understand that the Bushes and their cronies have pulled another Lyndon Johnson on us! When the notes are gleaned for the truth, we will again understand that people were killed to further a political agenda, just like that day in Dallas so long ago.
“Those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it.”

inside job
Oh for peets sake, the firefighters need to get over it. 9/11 is ancient history.
JT
Absolutely disgusting. I’m Canadian and appalled at what I’m seeing. Why would a person demean his own country and fellow citizens like that. I really hope someone can educate this man and show him the right way to more reasonable thinking.
9/11 was an inside job. Google operation northwoods. US PLANNED FAKE TERROR ATTACKS ON CITIZENS
TO CREATE SUPPORT FOR CUBAN WAR.
We bought it hook line and sinker.
Now what?
Just another in a long line of attempts by “conservatives” to use the tragedy of 9/11 to line their pockets.
This is shameful.
It pains me to say that the twin towers and WTC7 were brought down by controlled demolition.
For those of you who don’t know that, I would suggest researching the topic.
I thought 911 was the lesbians’ fault…
911 was an inside job. Bush OKC was an inside job. Clinton
Waco was purposeful murder. Clinton Ruby Ridge was purposeful murder. Clinton
1993 World Trade Center Bombing was an inside job. Clinton Running Drugs into Mena Arkansas and Money and weaponry out of Mena Arkansas: Bush Sr. and Clinton IT’S BI PARTISAN. VOTE NON OF THE ABOVE, THE LESSER OF THE 3 EVILS. :D
Is there any reason to assume this is not a ‘false flag’ operation? Is this guy even really a republican?
This is shows how far republicans (and democrats) are willing to go to brainwash people into there ideas. Its pure propaganda just like we always hear about China doing to its people. If the cause was a good one, you wouldn’t need propaganda. I have lost faith in both political parties because of the last 8 years and I can see that progress is far from being made to correct how they have destroyed our government.
I love how the photo is captioned “this explains alot”
Wow, the left is so open-minded and non racist.
You’re an idiot if you assume someone with the middle name “Hussein” might be Muslim, but you are completely correct to assume someone who is WHITE and has a FLAG SHIRT is an a-hole.
Unreal.
You folks do understand you are the same cartoonish realizations of the people on the right you rail against so much, right?
Just making sure. Don’t let me interrupt your pathetic and self righteous squabbling.

A station did an interview with the man that paid for this sign.
He said,”this attack would not have happened if a Republican had been President.”
So the interviewer pointed out to him that a Republican was in office. It was Bush. This is how stupid this man was. And still he left the sign up.
The advertising company that put the sign up, said it was a matter of free speech and they would not take the sign down.
Evidently the truth of the sign did not matter. As we have seen the truth is usually the first casualty. Free speech is one thing but the blatant lie of this sign does not seem to matter either.
I guess there were no Democrats who were firefighters that died, no policemen. Only Republicans.
I hope Mike Meehan is sued and loses everything to the people who lost their loved ones.
It is beyond believable that Bush officials successfully blew up the WTC, shot a missile into the Pentagon and disappeared the passengers on two (?) jetliners, including a handful of relatively famous people, one of whom, Barbara Olson, was married to Ted Olson, one of the Bush officials who would very likely have been in on the plot. It is even more impossible to believe that after this massively successful inside job, this merry band of fucktards have managed to keep it secret for seven years, 10 months and counting.
These are the same incompetent diltweeds who fucked up Iraq and New Orleans, blew a hole in the U.S. economy, put the cause of world peace back 50 years and have made the U.S. the laughingstock of the planet. Bush, Cheney, Condi and the rest of these arrogant fools could not successfully blow up a paper bag, much less keep it secret.
Sorry — it may have been a conspiracy and it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that there may be more to it than we know now, or ever will, but it wasn’t an “inside” job in the Bush administration. This bunch of fuck-ups could not possibly pull off such an elaborate operation. No way.
They DIDN’T pull it off.If they had, they wouldn’t have left so much evidence. For instance, photographs of the metal beams that were obviously burned through(by thermite)at 45 degree angles(could NOT have happened naturally as the result of burning plane fuel), a hole in the Pentagon that doesn’t match up with the size of a jet airliner, everything from the airliner totally destroyed, EXCEPT for a piece of paper with the “terrorists” agenda written on it.And let’s not forget that there just happened to be a “training exercise” taking place that kept military jets conveniently too far away to go after the “hijacked” planes, and Cheney was calling the shots at NORAD that day. The job was a complete F#@%-up, but the majority of Murricans bought it hook, line, and sinker.
There’s a ton more evidence that 9/11 could NOT have been done by outside forces, without the knowledge, approval, and help of Shrubs administration. If they had “pulled it off” right, there would be NO evidence.
As one person said already, are you guys sure that the guy is a real Republican? Something like this seems unlikely, even for them. I mean, they are bending over backwards to not offend anyone, and now this? It does not make sense.
nikolai – you wonder why we are in afghanistan?…have you ever seen what countries border Iran? go figure… these fucktards everyone keeps talking know exactly what they’re doing. By surrounding Iran they’ll eventually have complete control of the middle east and all its resources.
Your Mike Meehan caption really made me laugh!
We just need Ron Paul. That is all.
Is it just me or did the International Association of Firefighters’s three full paragraphs about respiratory disease seem tangential?
Sure, they can claim that a tragedy is being exploited by an opportunist taking the event out of context, but then they take HIM out of content to rant about thier damaged lungs.
Inability to keep one’s statments in context is a sign of mental illness. But then what can you expect from people who put on Nomex hoods and run into falling buildings?
Yes Mark, it’s just you. The firefighters were making the point that suffering continues, it didn’t end on Sept. 12. I’m sure you would quietly accept being lied to by your own government and told the air you were breathing was safe when they knew otherwise but the firefighters “rant about their damaged lungs” instead. Can you hear yourself at all? You are right about something else. Anyone who would brave a burning building to save the likes of people like you must be crazy. Maybe in your case, they’ll make an exception to their pledge to help.
Sadly, this is just another example of how Republicans have been exploiting 9/11 since the day it happened.
