Cafferty: Palin Has Way Less Experience Than Obama

CNN’s Jack Cafferty:

All we have heard from John McCain for months is, “Barack Obama is too young. Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be commander-in-chief. Who do you want answering the phone in the White House at three a.m.? * Blah, blah, blah.”

So what does McCain do? He picks someone to be his running mate who is even younger than Barack Obama and has less experience.

All we have heard from John McCain for months is, “Barack Obama is too young. Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be commander-in-chief.”

Sara Palin is 44 – Obama is 47. Sara Palin is in her first term as governor of Alaska, a state that has 13 people and some caribou. Obama is a member of the United States Senate from Illinois.

It’s not a big deal, except for this: If McCain wins, he will be the oldest person ever inaugurated for a first term at 72. He has a history of health problems that include bouts of melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer. It is reasonable to consider that McCain’s running mate could be called upon to be our president…

At some point, voters will have to ask themselves who they would want running the country if it ever became necessary: Joe Biden or Sarah Palin.

* Actually, Jack, that was a Hillary Clinton ad. But good analysis otherwise.

  1. Trish,

I hope you are having fun. I am. McCain has shown by this choice that he is much to old to be making decisions. Is this the first stage of senility or the last stage of horny? And she is a beauty queen that is under scrutiny in Alaska for firing someone because they wouldn’t fire he ex-brother-in-law. She has only been a governor for nineteen months. I knew old men liked beauty queens, but this is beyond viagra. Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. Judy

  2. How stupid does McCain think women
    are??

  3. I voted for Hillary because of
    what is between her ears…

  4. McCain has insulted every single American by making a joke out of our Presidential election. He’s opted for a cheap publicity stunt instead picking a qualified running mate. He’s a shell of a man who has sold every last scrap of his dignity to extremists. The John McCain that suffered for American ideals in Nam wouldn’t stop to spit on the pathetic coward that’s currently running for President

  5. The saga continues — the comparisons take place BUT between the wrong positions. Obama is running against McCain — for President. The difference in experience level is HUGE. Even if you want to try an apples & orange comparison between Palin & Obama … he is still at the bottom of the rung. He may be a member of the Senate — but an elected official ONLY. His entire term has been spent campaigning for President — not much experience there EXCEPT trying to inform people he is an African American man (but he is biracial, NOT African-American) when it is convenient AND oh yeah, he is also the son of a single woman who happens to be white … blah. blah, blah. And the twisted way in which he & Michelle talk about all they gave up to serve the country … what is not discussed is Michelle’s $317K job she has taken a “leave of absence” from — she did not sacrifice anything !!

It’s also very interesting that all that is wrong with the world right now is because of 8 years of Bush & the Republicans. Funny – I believe the Democrats control the house … are they accountable for anything ??

Isn’t it time to permit a tabloid-free AND fair look at the candidates for what each one of them can offer the Unitede States? As a 50-year-old female who has grown up professionally in the “good old boys network”, it is insulting that our media is acting like circling sharks for some unrelated piece of gossip rather than presenting the news as objectively as possible.

By the way — until the announcement of the Republican VP candidate last week, I was not sure I was even going to vote. Barack Obama is not the answer — his idea of specific sounds like a sermon from Reverend Wright’s church. We do not need an eloquent speaker — we need a team who has either been or is willing to go into the trenches & “walk the talk”. That team is McCain & Palin — between the 2 of them, they have experienced so much much more.

Vote for the “best team” …. and open your minds to something new — you just might find it refreshing. And the suggestion is you start with listening to Sarah Palin tonight, along with the remainder of the RNC. Obama had his moment last week — it’s time for the rest of the story.
