Bill and his little friendWe like New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson alright. We do remember him padding his resume with that baseball pitcher draft story. And we know he’s not what you’d call really comfortable around gay people. And his record of respect toward women is…not stellar.
But we’d forgive all that, and get behind Obama’s likely selection of Richardson for Secretary of Commerce if he’d do one thing: shave that beard!
Seriously Bill, what is up with that stuff? Is it a goatee? A Balbo? A Van Dyke? An anchor? A Zappa? Which? How’s about you go back to the original baby-face vibe and ditch that slightly satanic thing you’re sporting now?
I have come to your site many times and found it interesrting and inforamtive. However, the obove commentary on Richardson is really, really stupid…..trite at best.
Y slam/critique him on stuff that amounts to zero in view of his vast experience and service to country. Then u follow by critqueing his appearance..his goatee..like it really matters!!!??

Jeez, Oboamaman, does it seem like this was presented in the spirit of, “like it really matters!!!??” Try, as Jon always says, to get a sense of humor, and then have another go at it.
This was simply part of what was needed to relieve stress. Do you remember Al Gore circa 2001? It is an awesome feeling for a lot of guys to grow a beard, go on vacation, or just do nothing after a period of stress.
Personally I wouldn’t care if he wore a turbin and a speedo everywhere. If he can help recover the economy, he gets my thumbs up.

Oh, please! Why is that Occidental cultures are so against all signs of maturity like going gray, wrinkles, or facial hair? There is nothing wrong with the Governor’s facial hair. Besides, it no more disqualifies him for the post of Secretary of State than Hillary’s having allegedly flown Air Force One through an imagined hail of gunfire with Chelsea in tow to Bosnia qualifies her for the post, especially after the mess Condi is leaving.
The truth is Bill Richardson doesn’t have to demonstrate another qualifying trait to remain more qualified than Hillary is for the post. Richardson’s national security and diplomatic resume is simply better than Hillary’s resume, even with 8 years of being Bill’s goodwill ambassador abosrd Air Force One. It’s not a matter of amassed frequent flyer miles here.
This subject is really dumb…almost right-wing dumb!
