Inside a Mitt Romney Rally, or At Least Near It
TruthRomney

Left, 'Truth,' and on the other side, (right) 'Romney.' WTF???

I hope you faithful Pensito Reviewers appreciate my sacrifice in bringing you these crowd shots from Mitt Romney’s appearance in St. Augustine, Fla. on Monday, Aug. 13. I had to get up at 6 a.m. — that’s 6 in the morning, people! — to start my day with a bunch of rabid Republicans and tea partiers.

I wanted to stick around for the speechifying by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. Marco Rubio, and of course, Willard himself but the speakers started late (you’d think Republicans would be on time and Democrats would run late), and going on three hours in, I wanted to flee the scene. The vibe was decidedly “We’re taking our country back,” and since I’m the one they’re trying to take it back from, it wasn’t pleasant.

But do enjoy these shots. I made them just for you.

The front of her dad's hat (that's him in the t-shirt) was a yellow Gadsen snake

The national press seemed less than thrilled with our town, where the humidity was easily 100% following a drenching rain yesterday, but FOX News was well represented

The folks in the blue Romney t-shirts were the only ones who made signs

Left, OBVIOUSLY most anti-Obama sentiment is not based in racism; Right, One of the few people at the event who was smiling

Hey Trish — Thanks for the sacrifice! One question: in the lede photo, is that Keith Olbermann in the blue polo and khakis?

Paula, there was a bunch. Our local paper said “thousands” but I would say more like one of those thousands and some (small) change. And about a hundred or more were local politicians and candidates for office. Every single name on the ballot, even the few Democrats we have around here, was there.
