Is God Planning to Smite Republicans in Florida?
Attacks on the Poor, Elderly, and Sick; Running a Mormon Cult Member; Skinny Dipping in the Sea of Galilee; Claiming Corportations are People...Could Put God Over the Edge

Remember when Christian Coalition founder and former presidential candidate Pat Robertson said the American Civil Liberties Union, feminists, blacks, and gays were responsible for the Sept. 11 terror attacks? Or when he said that Hurricane Katrina wiped out New Orleans as God’s answer to those who were pro-choice? How about when he said a Haitian earthquake was the result of a deal early Haitians made with the devil?

It looks like Florida, which Pat previously predicted would feel God’s wrath over Disneyworld’s annual “Gay Days” park admission, is finally getting its due. When Pat warned us in 1998, he turned out to be wrong, and the hurricane he thought was coming to Disney instead turned north to Virginia and smote the state that the 700 Club calls headquarters.

Now it looks like God is pissed again, and what is, as of this writing, Tropical Storm Isaac (but which will likely become Hurricane Isaac) is set to hit as Florida opens itself to the pit of inequity that is the Republican National Convention.

Consider how Republicans have recently earned God’s anger.

  • They chose a Mormon, Mitt Romney, as their presidential candidate. Mormonism was founded by an American named Joseph Smith in the 1820s who used the religion he made up to justify taking 34 wives, of whom two were age 14 and a dozen or so were under 17. Cult members believe, among other things, that Jesus came to America and that women must be married to a man in order to enter heaven.
  • Romney chose Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. Ryan is Catholic, yet his views more closely follow those of atheist Ayn Rand, according to a letter written by almost 90 members of Georgetown’s faculty and administrators:
“Your budget appears to reflect the values of your favorite philosopher, Ayn Rand, rather than the gospel of Jesus Christ. We would be remiss…if we did not challenge your continuing misuse of Catholic teaching to defend a budget plan that decimates food programs for struggling families, radically weakens protections for the elderly and sick, and gives more tax breaks to the wealthiest few.”
  • Republicans support expanded access to guns and laws that support shooting first and asking questions later, restriction on abortion with no exceptions for cases of rape or incest, discrimination against homosexuals, and a litany of other hate and fear-based positions.
  • At least 30 Republican members of Congress recently acknowledged that they skinny-dipped (at least one admitting he was fully naked) and drunkenly cavorted in the Sea of Galilee, the waters upon which Christians believed Jesus walked, during a trip to the Holy Land last year.

It looks like God has had it, and even keeping Sarah Palin off the speaker’s platform at the Republican convention in Tampa is not going to be enough to spare the GOP, and the state that invited it here, from God’s smiting. Let’s just hope His mercy prevails and innocent Democrats and independents are spared His fury.

If hurricane impacts #RNC2012 it’s because Charlie Crist didnt place prayer at Western Wall.

Note that Tropical Depression 10 to the right of the image there looks to be on a path up the East coast. It’s possible that a Hurricane Joyce could hit Charlotte just about the time of the Democratic Convention there… in which case, the press will issue their typical “a plague on both their houses” BS.

Don’t forget God historically smites Florida for it’s conservative views:

Has anyone asked Pat Robertson why Florida is being smited. Being from Charlotte, I hope we do not do tear Charlotte up, again, like Hugo.

It is no wonder the world is becoming a more hateful place when you do nothing but perpetuate more hatred. Shame on you.

Got it, Raceman. When right wingers like Pat Robertson do it, folks like you are silent but when liberals mock them for it, we’re perpetuating hatred. Thank you for perpetuating stupid.

Madison, I suspect Raceman (what does that alias mean?) is a Mormon and found my accurate description of the cult’s founder and beliefs to be hateful. Whatever.
