Mother Jones has obtained secretly recorded audio of Mitt Romney at a fundraiser earlier this year with other 1 percenters in which he describes half the U.S. electorate as government dependents:
MITT ROMNEY: There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.
He also said, “[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

What a slimeball.
Sadly, many neo-conservatives will naturally agree with with this ass-hat is saying.
They are too clueless to understand that Mitt is really referring to those whom are NOT amongst his wealthy buddies.
He wont say it but I certainly will… Why should I have to pay for those who refuse to work? Why is it my responsibility to support the freeloaders in this country??? Explain that to me? I work very hard for my money, I need it to take my family.
Micahel,The President won’t say it,but I certainly will. What happens when your ignorant ass becomes disabled, what will you take home to your family then !
Dear Michael…
You are probably not paying income tax either! You better check it out Hon. Also, I worked my ass off for decades. I paid into Social Security, I paid for Medicare, and I paid into my pension. This is not an entitlement babe. This is my money. Our dear Conservative Bush, took the entire surplus left my our dear Progressive Clinton and literally STOLE it from the country. In addition, they spent our Social Security which we had paid into for so long. Bottom line is this…I want my money. If they they have to squeeze it out of your butt I don’t care. The people who are not working are for the most part retiree’s. We have taken care of this whole damn country, thats why there4 was so much money to steal…it came from us, Better get it right boy!
George Bush famously said the IOU’s of the money borrowed from the Social Security trust funds were just pieces of paper, the intent being it wouldn’t have to be paid back and the Republicans could just take it to offset the tax cuts and the wars, etc. The last politician not to believe the Social Security trust funds shouldn’t be used as a slush fund for their pet economic project was Al Gore. Remember the Social Security Lockbox? He was ridiculed. To bad he wasn’t elected then we wouldn’t be in the position that we are in and we also would have had a better shot at preventing the 9/11 attacks as the anti-terrorism workers wouldn’t have been stood down. Dick Cheney was assigned the anti-terrorism task force and failed miserably, having not met until just before or just after 9/11.
Many of those not working are not working because of choice but because there are not enough jobs. We are in an economy whose growth is limited by demand. So all these supply side policies that Republicans promote will do nothing except enrich their rich buddies. Already one remedy to the Social Security shortfall is delayed retirement ages. Mine is 66 and 10 months. I will hold those 22 months close to my heart as a memory of what George Bush and the Republicans wrought. The Social Security problem can be easily fixed by removing the yearly cap or significantly raising it.
[...] InĀ ingesting all these numbers my mind reverts back to Governor Romney’s words this past September. [...]
