Tennessee Suspends Gun Permit of Nut Who Threatened to ‘Start Killing People’

It’s reassuring to know that someone in the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has some sense:

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has suspended the handgun carry permit of a local man who threatened to “start killing people” to protect his Second Amendment right.

In a statement released Friday officials said they had suspended the handgun carry permit of James Yeager, CEO of Tactical Response based on “material likelihood of risk of harm to the public.”

On Thursday, a video of Yeager angrily claiming he would “start killing people” if President Barack Obama moved forward with gun control measures began to go viral on the internet.

“The number one priority for our department is to ensure the public’s safety. Mr. Yeager’s comments were irresponsible, dangerous, and deserved our immediate attention. Due to our concern, as well as that of law enforcement, his handgun permit was suspended immediately. We have notified Mr. Yeager about the suspension today via e-mail. He will receive an official notification of his suspension through the mail,” Commissioner Bill Gibbons said.

That explains so much. When I read about this guy on Raw Story, I was thinking law enforcement must have called him because he changed his tune fast.

“By Thursday morning, the video promising violence in response to gun control measures had been removed from Yeager’s YouTube page, but the link had not been removed from Facebook…Update (11:15 a.m. ET): Yeager has replaced his YouTube video with an edited version that does not include the threat to ‘start killing people.’” Raw Story preserved a copy of the original threat below.”

You can see the videos there. I didn’t watch them, already being sickened by the whole thing.

    What would have happened if:

    — James Yeager had been Tyrone Yeager, a black guy from Detroit?

    — James Yeager had been Mohammed al-Binni, a Muslim guy from MYC?

    — James Yeager had been Ramon Hernandez, a brown-skinned guy with a Hispanic accent from Eagle Pass, TX>

If he had been any one of these, would he have gotten away with a slap on the wrist . . . or . . . would he have been arrested by a SWAT team and already be in jail?

I think we all know the answer.

If his aim is as accurate as your headline spelling, no one has anything to fear.
