Perry Equates Homosexuality with Alcoholism

Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.

— Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), comparing homosexuality to alcoholism during a visit to California, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Exactly when did you make the decision to live your life as a heterosexual? If your response is that you never had to make the decision because you were born that way, you don’t know what you’re talking about and are unqualified to pass judgment. If, on the other hand, your honest response is that you made the decision to live a pretend life, hiding your true identity from everyone, then you are worse than a fool. You are a fraud, a useless hypocrite, and a coward for living your life in disguise. This is the honest and considered response of a 61 year old straight woman and resident of a small town in south Arkansas.
