After reporters schlepped to the port of Oakland for what was billed as a press event, the campaign informed them it was really just a photo op and Whitman would be taking no questions. After Whitman posed with executives, her people, including a rentacop, shooed reporters out of the room and even put up screens to prevent additional filming. Later, Whitman’s people compounded their problems by making excuses for their snafu that were easily disprovable lies.
