CNN Won’t Pay $5 Million to Have Trump Participate in Debate

$5 million

Amount CNN will not give to charity to ensure Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump appears on the Republican debate set to air on the Time Warner-owned cable-news outlet on December 15,” Variety reports. “We do not pay candidates to appear,” said CNN chief Jeff Zucker.

Roger Ailes On Competing Networks

I flip to MSNBC occasionally to make sure their blind pig didn’t find an acorn. But they never have once. I tell you who I do like at MSNBC — I like Joe and Mika. I don’t watch much CNN, they got out of the news business in primetime. But I look to see if they have a good documentary or movie. If they do, I’ll watch that.

— Fox News chief Roger Ailes, quoted by the Hollywood Reporter.

A Pointless Poll

CNN says the GOP leads by one point,
Putting upon it way too fine a point.
Is it just for the ratings
Or just Democrat baiting?
Really, CNN — what’s your point?

Will CNN Shred Its Credibility by Hiring Dick Morris? He Says They’re in Talks

But stay tuned. It has been confirmed that he is out at Fox, but the source for the story that he’s been hired by CNN is as unreliable as they get — it’s Morris himself.

Andrew Sullivan Debates Obama’s Record with Bay Buchanan

The venue for this debate is Anderson Cooper’s show on CNN. Meanwhile, Fox is signaling that it is terrified of this story. The network’s spokesmodel hosts have been trashing Sullivan’s article while refusing to invite him on to debate it. (They even blurred his name on a graphic of the Newsweek cover.)

The biggest surprise is that Andrew Sullivan is surprised that the GOP’s propaganda network won’t allow its viewers to hear a dissenting view:

I knew from afar that they were a propaganda channel. Now, in this close-up personal interaction, you realize just how deep the rot goes. This is a channel dedicated to money, power and entertainment, in that order.

CNN Confuses Osama and Obama

osama-obama

If you thought you had to turn to FOX News for this kind of stuff, think again. CNN is running a hyperlink that says, “CIA boss expects release of Obama pics.” When you click the link to the story, of course, it’s about whether the government will release pictures of a dead Osama bin Laden, not pictures of Pres. Obama.

You use the left index finger to hit the “b” CNN guys, and the left ring finger to hit the “s.”

No doubt the error will have been corrected by the time you read this.

Update: Yes it has.

Many liberal Democrats opposed the tax rate compromise because it included provisions that helped the wealthy.

— CNN, demonstrating in a story about Pres. Obama’s high poll numbers the kind of sloppy writing that we have come to accept without question. I don’t know any “liberal Democrats” who don’t want to help everybody, the wealthy included. They just don’t want to help the wealthy at the expense of all others.

Zombie Birthers: The Stoopid ‘Conspiracy’ That Won’t Die – Watch Anderson Cooper Battle Stubborn Ignorance with Truth and Facts

One observation about the birther conspiracy that seldom gets made is that Pres. Obama’s handling of this entirely fictional, made-up controversy is proof positive that he can play hardball when he wants to.

Even if Jeebus himself descended from heaven and unfurled Barack Obama’s long-form birth certificate from the top of Mt. Sinai, the birthers would not believe it. What they really want is a president who is a white guy.

It is more than likely — almost a dead cinch — that Obama has in his possession a copy of the actual long-form birth certificate from Hawaii that birthers claim they need to see in order to put their purported concerns to rest.

The president’s mother had to have the long form document to show Customs officials when the family moved to Indonesia when Obama was five years old and and to show U.S. Customs when he returned a few years later to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. He also presumably had to show his birth certificate in order to get a driver’s license when he was 16 and likely had to produce it again when he received his passport.

Assuming those suppositions are correct, it’s good to see that he’s sticking it to these idiots, because the truth is, even if Jeebus himself descended from heaven and unfurled Barack Obama’s long-form birth certificate from the top of Mt. Sinai, the birthers would not believe it. What they really want is a president who is a white guy. Half-white just doesn’t cut it.

That fact comes through loud and clear in Anderson Cooper’s interview, in the video above, with Texas birther and state Rep. Leo Berman, a Republican — who, it must be pointed out, is a ex-pat New Yorker.

Last month, Berman introduced legislation in the Texas House that would “require any candidate for president or vice president of the United States to show his or her birth certificate to the Texas secretary of state,” because, as Berman put it, “we have a president whom the American people don’t know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place”:

CNN’s Firing Rick Sanchez Is More Proof That Fox Is Not a Legitimate News Organization

photos-beck-sanchez

Within 24 hours after the radio interview during which CNN anchor Rick Sanchez called Jon Stewart a bigot and complained that Jews run the media, CNN fired him. Contrast that with the fact that it has been 14 months since Glenn Beck called the president of the United States a racist. Nearly 300 advertisers have boycotted his show as a result, but Fox did not even consider firing him. What does that say about Fox?

Poll: Bad News for GOP, Rep. Barton – 82% Approve of BP’s $20 Bil Victims’ Fund

If it struck you as odd that House Speaker-to-Be John Boehner and other top Republicans went into a full-bore panic over Rep. Joe Barton’s apology to BP on Thursday — normally they’d be high-fivin’ over Barton’s smearing the $20 billion victims’ fund the president brokered with BP as a “shakedown” — the answer may lie in a poll that came out the same day:

The poll’s Thursday release comes as top BP executives testify in front of Congress. At the hearing, Rep. Joe Barton, ranking Republican on the House Energy Committee, defended BP and slammed the White House for insisting that BP place $20 billion in an escrow fund to help compensate those affected by the oil disaster.

“I am ashamed of what happened at the White House yesterday,” said Barton at the hearing. “I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation would be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown. In this case a $20 billion dollar shakedown.”

But according to the poll, Americans disagree with Barton. Eighty-two percent approve of the creating of a fund of billions of dollars to compensate workers and businesses affected by the spill.

The CNN article on the poll offers another example of how the Beltway media outlets are in the bag for Republicans this year. CNN buried the lead, ignoring the fact that Republicans are on the wrong side of this issue by a huge margin — just 18 percent of Americans agree with Rep. Barton and and 115 of his 178 House colleagues who believe the victims’ fund is a bad thing — choosing instead to focus on the finding that approval of Pres. Obama’s performance relative to the crisis had dropped 5 points: “Rise in disapproval of Obama handling of oil spill.” This despite the fact that president’s overall approval remained constant at 50 percent.

“Liberal” media — riiight.
