A More Civil Brand of Politics? George H.W. Bush Stoked Racism to Win

And his wife maligned his challenger’s running mate, the first female in that role, with a slur that is only directed at women.

It’s Time for Us to Make America Great Again

If you’ve ever wondered what living in pre-war Germany was like, and how people could turn a blind eye on injustices they must have known their government was committing, wonder no longer.

The sadness and frustration you’ll feel from reading the Detroit Free Press report of the pending deportation (and in pragmatic terms, death sentence) of a deaf and mentally disabled man for no good reason whatsoever will make you ashamed of what Trump has turned us into. Do Republicans Know Something We Don’t?

“The GOP is behaving like a party that isn’t worried about ever winning another fair election.”

— Ana Marie Cox, host of the Crooked Media podcast, With Friends Like These. Cox notes that Republican disregard for constituent concern about health insurance signals that the GOP feels it might no longer be dependent on fair voting. The assertion comes after the loss on electronic voting machines of the Georgia District 6 congressional race by Democrat Jon Ossoff, despite leading in pre-race polls and early voting conducted on paper ballots.

Also, Kanye’s Not This Crazy

“If any other person…let’s say Kanye West tweeted that. The reaction would be, ‘Kanye’s off his meds again.’ But the difference is, Kanye cannot launch an intercontinental ballistic missile strike against North Korea with one push of a button.”

— Former Obama senior advisor Dan Pfieffer, on the must-listen podcast, “Pod Save America,” commenting on Trump’s tweets attacking Morning Joe cohost Mika Brzezinski
